Important agreements were made between India and Russia on Tuesday, which is a big step toward building new power plants at the Kudankulam nuclear power plant.
This shows that the two countries will continue to work together.
The history of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant
The biggest nuclear power plant in India, Kudankulam, has been being built in Tamil Nadu since March 2002 with help from Russia. The first part of the project started running in February 2016 at its full 1,000 MW output.
As planned, the plant will be able to handle all of its work by 2027.
Important Deals and Announcements by S. Jaishankar
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, who is in Russia for five days, said that “very important” deals would be signed about the future units of the Kudankulam nuclear project.
The news came after a full meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, which was mostly about working together on economic issues.
Progress in a Number of Areas
Minister Jaishankar talked about big steps forward in trade, finance, communication, energy, civil aviation, and working together on nuclear issues during the meeting.
He talked about the need for balance and sustainability and was excited about the chance to look for new options in different areas.
India and Russia have a special relationship
Mr. Jaishankar called Russia a “special partner” in military, nuclear power, and space in his speech to Indians living outside of India.
Collaborations in these important areas are based on trust, which makes the relationship strong and long-lasting.
Future Talks and Working Together on the Economy
As Jaishankar said, teams of negotiators from both India and the Eurasian Economic Zone would meet by the end of January to start talking about a free trade deal in person.
This shows the dedication to encouraging businesses to work together for the good of all involved.
India’s economic growth and its effects on the world in the future
In the last ten years, India’s economy has grown from the 10th largest to the 5th largest, which Minister Jaishankar said gave him faith in the country’s future. He thinks that India will continue to grow and that it will soon have the third-largest economy in the world.
