India and Cambodia ink 2 MoUs in different fields

India and Cambodia have signed two MoUs to boost bilateral cooperation in tourism, healthcare, agriculture and women empowerment (through information and communication technology) under the Quick Impact Projects Initiative. Indian Vice President M.Hamid Ansari, who is on official tour, has signed these important pacts with his Cambodian counterpart Prime Minister Hun Sen in Phnom Penh.

Under Mekong Ganga Cooperation initiative , India will assist Cambodia in two Health care projects, one Agricultural project, Women’s Empowerment Project via Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

Mekong-Ganga Cooperation
  • The Mekong–Ganga Cooperation (MGC) was established on November 10, 2000 at Vientiane at the First MGC Ministerial Meeting.
  • It comprises six member countries, namely India, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.
  • The organization takes its name from the Ganga and the Mekong, two large rivers in the region.
