India and Belarus ink six agreements

President Pranab Mukherjee, who is on two nation’s tour viz Sweden and Belarus, has witnessed the signing of six agreements between India and Belarus to enhance bilateral co-operation. The President has said that India is fully committed to deeper and a more diversified relationship with Belarus. He also added India deeply appreciates Belarus’ unequivocal endorsement of India’s rightful claim to permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council.

A total of four Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) were signed between India and Belarus in the field of

  • Textiles
  • Standardization and Information Support
  • Prasar Bharati and the National State TV and Radio Company of Belarus to cooperate in Broadcasting.
  • SEBI and the Belarusian Ministry of Finance on bilateral cooperation.

Apart from the MoUs,

  • A protocol was also signed amending the agreement between the two governments for the Avoidance of Double taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to taxes on income and property.
  • A road map was also released on India- Belarus cooperation.

The President expressed confidence that the discussions and various events being held in conjunction with his visit, would take India-Belarus relations to even greater heights.
