In the recently released EDU-RAND 2015 rankings, IIT Delhi has been ranked as the best engineering college in India. It is followed by the IITs in Kharagpur, Mumbai, Chennai, Guwahati, and Kanpur. Kolkata’s Jadavpur University (JU) is ranked the best government engineering college in India and BITS Pilani occupies the first place amongst private colleges.
The Bengal Engineering and Science University (BESU), Shibpur, which has now been upgraded into the first Indian Institute of Engineering, Science & Technology (IIEST), is ranked 13. The rankings are released by EDU collaborated with RAND Corporation, USA. EDU is an online platform on higher education.
