Henri Kontinen and John Peers have won their first Masters 1000 title together this week in Paris at the BNP Paribas Masters. Kontinen and Peers made it all the way after beating Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut in the final.
- Kontinen and Peers, the unseeded duo in Paris, overcame the number one seeds Herbert and Mahut in a three-set battle 6-4 3-6 10-6. The match lasted one hour and 15 minutes.
- After winning an ATP 500 title in Hamburg earlier this year, and two ATP 250 titles in Brisbane and Munich, Kontinen and Peers have added one Masters 1000 titles to their collection as well.
- Kontinen and Peers were close to triumphing at the Rolex Masters in Shanghai couple of week ago, but failed to beat John Isner and Jack Sock in the final.
- The French duo, Herbert and Mahut, failed to win their fourth Masters 1000 title this year. Previously, Herbert and Mahut won the Masters 1000 events in Indian Wells, Miami and Monte Carlo.
- Herbert and Mahut added one Grand Slam title to their collection as well in 2016 – Wimbledon. Also, they made it all the way at the prestigious Queens Club.
- Kontinen and Peers respectively Herbert and Mahut have clinched a spot for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London. The World Tour Finals are set to be played this month, November 13-20.
