“Dream the impossible Dream. If it is strong enough-It will transform into Reality.”-Osho
Sachin Tendulkar – Master of the cricket era. He is always ardent, suave, and determinant. Well, his name is enough and mere ink on the paper could never describe his achievements. Sachin Tendulkar
An 11 year boy who turned the tide in reverse direction, made his debut as a cricketer at the age of 16 and then there was no looking back. He nailed it with his determination and persistence and shone like a star in Indian Cricket History. Born on 24th April 1973 into the family of Ramesh Tendulkar, a famous Marathi Novelist and Rajni. Sachin was named after Sachin Dev Burman, his father’s favorite music director. Wishing Sachin Tendulkar a long beautiful and prosperous life on his 42nd Birthday.
His Cricket Journey
“Let no man in the world live in delusion. Without a Guru none can cross over to the other shore.”-Guru Nanak.
For Sachin, Ramakant Achrekar was the Guru who should be credited for what he is today.
Ramakant Achrekar started by coaching Sachin in the mornings before school and in the evenings after school. Tendulkar used to practice for hours at end and whenever he became tired, Achrekar used to place a one rupee coin at the top of his stumps. The condition was that Sachin could keep the coins, if he did not get out. Sachin collected 13 coins this way, which is still a priceless possession for him.
First Step
Do not give up the begining is always the hardest.
Very Few know, Sachin’s first step in international cricket came when he appeared as a substitute for Imran Khan’s team at an exhibition game that was being staged at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. When India played England in the semi final of the 1987 World Cup in Mumbai Sachin played the role of a ball-boy in that game.
Sachin had an exceptional and rare season in 1988 and raptures a century in each and every match he played. With former friend and team India colleague Vinod Kambli he took part in an unbeaten partnership of 664 runs against the St. Xavier’s High School in a Lord Harris Shield interschool contest. Their dominance made the opposition to kneel down and one bowler was actually crying. Tendulkar notched up a 326 in that game and also scored in excess of 1000 runs in that tournament.
With sheer diligence, Ardent Sachin stumped every one by his performance, unsurpassed hunger for runs when he appeared in the field at the age of 16 to face Pakistan which was one of the toughest teams at that time and had a bat against the fierce attack of Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram’s wrath and is hit on the head, even then this little boy doesn’t stop and played arduously to make the half century. Sachin acquitted himself well on that tour and the rest as they say is history!
