Google’s India-born CEO Sundar Pichai and Nasdaq president Adena Friedman have been chosen for the prestigious Global Leadership Awards 2019 by business advocacy group USIBC in recognition of the two companies’ contribution as the leading technology-driven platforms.
The award by Washington-based US-India Business Council (USIBC) would be conferred upon Indian-American Pichai, 46, and Friedman, 50, during the next week’s ‘India Ideas Summit’. Given annually since 2007, the USIBC Global Leadership Awards recognise top corporate executives from the United States and India whose companies play a major role in catalysing growth in the US-India commercial corridor.
Sundar Pichai
- Pichai was born in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India in a Tamil family.
- Pichai completed schooling in Jawahar Vidyalaya, a Central Board of Secondary Education school in Ashok Nagar, Chennai and completed the Class XII from Vana Vani school in the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.
- He earned his degree from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur in metallurgical engineering.
- Pichai joined Google in 2004, where he led the product management and innovation efforts for a suite of Google’s client software products, including Google Chrome and Chrome OS, as well as being largely responsible for Google Drive.
Adena Friedman
- Adena T. Friedman (born 1969) is an American businessperson. She currently serves as the president and CEO of Nasdaq.
- She was formerly the managing director and CFO of The Carlyle Group.
- In May 2014, it was announced that Friedman would return to NASDAQ OMX as the president of global corporate and information technology solutions. In November 2016, she was named the CEO of NASDAQ
