The government of India has been planning to launch an online green channel to create awareness among the people about environmental and forest issues. Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar said the government is thinking of launching an internet green channel and also provide one hour programme on environment on ‘DD Kisan’ channel. The Government is planning to go for online channel rather than a dedicated television channel on environment, as the later would require huge investment.

The GOI has recently launched a dedicated television channel for farmers called ‘DD Kisan’ to provide information about best agri-practices. The Minister said media has an active role to play in creating awareness about clean India initiative and other issues related to environment.
