The Government of India has constituted a task force comprising experts and senior officials to overcome the hurdles in interlinking of rivers and also on establishing unity among different States for speedy implementation of the Modi government’s ambitious project. The task force will be chaired by B.N. Navalawala and take up all issues for expediting the work on interlinking of rivers in the country.
Interlinking of rivers of India will definitely help Indian Economy to grow in a whole new level. It will generate huge amount of employment and also benefit people for generations.
Main Functions of the Task Force
- To analyze alternative plans in place of infeasible links in the present plan.
- Plan for interlinking of intra-state and intra-basin rivers also along with that of inter-state and inter-basin links.
- Time schedules for completion of feasibility studies and DPRs of all the links.
- Action plan schedule of all the links and also suggest on means of funding mechanisms for the interlinking of rivers project.
- Guidance on rules of appraisal of individual projects in respect of economic viability, socio-economic, environmental impacts and preparation of resettlement plans.
