GOI appoints Kalyanaraman as MD and CEO of National Housing Bank

Government of India has appointed Sriram Kalyanaraman as the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of National Housing Bank (NHB), India’s Housing finance regulator.  Sriram is the first appointee to the newly created post of Managing Director and CEO in NHB. He is the first person from the private sector to head a public sector financial institution. Prior to this appointment, Kalyanaraman was Director-Business Development at Equifax Credit Information Services Pvt Ltd. His appointment is for five years from the date of taking over the charge.

Till date, the Government had stuck to the post of Chairman & Managing Director in the case of NHB. However, in line with the recent approach of bifurcating the CMD post in certain public sector banks, the Centre has now split the CMD post even for NHB and created new designation of Managing Director & CEO.
