In the city of Ahmedabad, the Global Fisheries Conference India 2023, which will last for two days, is scheduled to be inaugurated by Parshottam Rupala, the Minister of Union Fisheries.

Honoring the Wealth of Fisheries and Aquaculture – Theme:

The purpose of the conference, which will be held under the topic “Celebrating Fisheries and Aquaculture Wealth,” is to bring together important stakeholders for engaging in beneficial conversations, gain industry insights, and networking.

Forging collaborations with national and international stakeholders and outlining a road plan for sustainable growth in India’s fisheries sector are both possible outcomes of this platform, which acts as a platform’s purpose.

The 21st and 22nd of November: A Platform for Collaboration

At the conference, which will take place on November 21 and 22, coinciding with World Fisheries Day, fishery ministers, ambassadors, scientists, policy-makers, fishery communities, and investment bankers will be present.

The meeting is being organized by the Union Department of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairy.

A Meeting of the International Round Table: Addressing Our Challenges

Minister Rupala will serve as the host of the International Round Table Meet, which will center on joint efforts to maintain the sector in the face of challenges, especially the problem brought on by climate change.

The purpose of the event is to encourage conversations about unique approaches and methods of problem-solving.

The participation of diplomats and delegations from throughout the world

Physical participation has been confirmed by delegations from more than ten countries, including France, Norway, Australia, Russia, Brazil, Greece, Spain, New Zealand, and Zimbabwe, among others.

In addition, it is anticipated that more than fifty ambassadors from other countries will participate electronically in the conference.

Connecting the Industry: Bringing Together Stakeholders

Participation from industry stakeholders, policymakers, and other individuals will be encouraged during a session called “Industry Connect” to discuss important concerns.

These themes include the ecosystem for startups, collaboration in the fisheries industry, the transfer of technology, and capacity building.

Presence of International Organizations in the World

To contribute to the global perspective on fisheries and aquaculture, representatives from approximately ten international institutions, such as the Asian Development Bank and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, will be present at the conference.

Relative Number of Visitors Anticipated

The event is anticipated to attract a total of 5,000 attendees, who will consist of farmers, vendors, officials from cooperatives, and new companies.

In the context of India’s fisheries industry, this is a significant attempt to strengthen collaboration, facilitate the exchange of information, and pave the path for sustainable growth.
