Facts About Nagaland
- Nagaland became the full-fledged 16th state of India on 1 Dec 1963.
- This state borders with Assam in the northwest, Arunachal Pradesh in north and Manipur in the south. It also shares an international boundary with Myanmar.
- The capital of the state is Kohima and the largest city is Dimapur.
- The state is mostly hilly with “Mount Saramati” as the highest peak of Naga hills with a height of 3840 m. This mountain peak is shared with Myanmar and the mountain range forms a natural barrier to Myanmar.
- Nagaland is also referred to as “Falcon capital of the world”.
Mithun (a semi domesticated bull) found only in north eastern states is the state animal. - Jhume(Shifting) cultivation is generally practised in the state.
