Do’s and Don’ts in Interview

Do’s

  1. First Impression is the last impression so it is necessary to be as much as positive through a smart, pleasant appearance. It is important to be well groomed.
  2. Softly knock the door (Even if the door is open).
  3. Open the door very softly take permission of the board for entry – Sir, may I come in please.
  4. Softly close the door and wish the board with gentle standing posture.
  5. If there is any female member wish her first.
  6. Wait till the board asks you to sit and say thanks before sitting.
  7. Maintain eye contact with the board.
  8. Give your answer confidently.
  9. Always be sensitive, be honest and be you natural self.
  10. When you are unable to answer any question admit it that you don’t know the answer or say – Sorry Sir, I don’t know.
  11. Always pay full respect to the board.
  12. Before leaving the room, thank the board members gracefully.

 

Don’ts

  1. Don’t bang the door.
  2. Don’t make excuses.
  3. Don’t make negative comments about previous employers or others.
  4. Don’t treat the interview casually.
  5. Don’t slouch and don’t sit rigidly on the edge of your chair.
  6. Always address the female member as “Mam”.
  7. Don’t chew gum or smoke before the interview.
  8. Don’t sit until the board asks to do so.
  9. Never ask questions to the board.
  10. Don’t try to defend yourself in wrong answers.
  11. Never put your file or hand on the table.
  12. Don’t make noise while sitting and leaving the chair.
