Digital India: C-DOT launches 4 products

As part of ‘Digital India Week’, the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) has launched four new products. They are

  1. Solar powered Wi-Fi hotspots
  2. Long distance Wi-Fi
  3. Next Generation Network solution
  4. 100 Gbps optical fibre cable

The solar powered Wi-Fi hotspots can be used for smart cities, rural schools or panchayats, extending broadband connectivity to remote/ unconnected places. It can also be used in ship-to-ship communications on the deep seas.

The long distance Wi-Fi system is capable of extending Wi-Fi and IP connectivity to the remote parts of India in a cost-effective and power-efficient manner, and is capable of providing 100 Mbps broadband speed

The Next Generation Network solution will address the needs of the changing telecom sector and enable smooth transition from Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) to Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP).

The 100 Gbps optical fibre cable is capable of transmiting data up to a distance of 50 km without a booster or an amplifier.

Digital India is taking the online evolution to the next step with the government departments and ministries now vying to take the digital route and be more consumer and people friendly.
