The Delhi Metro has become the first metro service in India to be certified with the prestigious International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) rating for efficient energy management. The stations and depot which have been certified are – Yamuna Bank, Anand Vihar, Sarita Vihar, Ashok Park Main, GTB Nagar, Vishwavidyalaya, Kashmere Gate, Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, Janpath, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Shahdara, Azadpur, HUDA City Centre and the Khyber Pass depot.
The ISO 50001:2011 Energy Management System (EnMS) is a very recent ISO standard on Energy Management. It specifies requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and improving an Energy Management system, whose purpose is to enable an organisation to follow a systematic approach on achieving continual improvement of energy performance, including energy efficiency, energy use and consumption.
DMRC has an energy policy in place which lays down stringent energy efficient guidelines for the organisation.
