1. Accessible India Campaign rolled out
GOI has rolled out “Accessible India Campaign” on the occasion of The International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The campaign is aimed at making 50 major cities more accessible to the specially abled. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi was slated to roll out the campaign since he was away to rain-battered Tamil Nadu, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley stepped in on his behalf.
Sharing PM’s thoughts, Jaitley said that he is for making smart cities fully accessible for persons with disabilities and wants the Centre and states to combine their efforts to make “Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan” successful.

2. Govt to start electronic transfer of MGNREGA wages from 2016
To prevent leakages in the MGNREGA programme, GOI will introduce the system for electronic transfer of wages to the beneficiaries from January 1, 2016 in Kerala. If it is successful, it will be introduced (e-transfer of wages) in other states. An additional Rs 2,000 crore would be sought from the Finance Ministry towards ensuring that MNREGA wages are at par with the agriculture wages fixed by some states. Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) provides 100 days of employment to registered workers on their demand.
To avoid bogus attendance as well as instances of tampering and misuse of muster rolls, the e-Muster system has been introduced. For smooth fund flow, the electronic Fund Management System (e-FMS) has been made mandatory from April 1 this year.

3. Lok Sabha passed bill to establish BIS as National Standards Body
The Lok Sabha has passed a bill that provides for establishing Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) as the National Standards Body of India and enable the government to bring more products, systems and services under ambit of standardisation. The Food and Public Distribution Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said that the government did not want an “inspector raj” but there will be investigations in case of complaints.
The bill, which was passed by voice vote, seeks to replaces the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986 and to empower the central government to authorize any other agency having necessary accreditation for the purpose of conformity assessment against Indian standards.

4. NTC signed Integrity Pact with Transparency International India
National Textile Corporation Limited (NTC Ltd) became the 51st Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) and 49th Central PSU to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Transparency International India (TII) for adopting Integrity Pact (IP).

5. Adidas India’s Pulin Kumar won prestigious INBA Award
Pulin Kumar, group senior legal and compliance director of Adidas India, has been conferred with the Indian National Bar Association’s General Counsel of the year 2015 – Retail Award. Former law minister and senior lawyer Ram Jethmalani presented the award to Kumar at a ceremony on November 26 on the occasion of INBA’s Annual International Conference-66th National Law Day.
Kumar received the award for his contribution to the legal field in and outside the country for more than 21 years. INBA has constituted 12 awards categories for general counsel in the field of technology, infrastructure, real estate, retail, corporate, privacy and data protection, law firm and insurance.

6. Union Cabinet approved signing of MoU between India and Iran on visa facilitation
The Union Cabinet has approved the signing of the agreement between India and Iran on visa facilitation for Diplomatic, Official/Service and Ordinary passport holders.
The Agreement allows a multiple-entry gratis visa of three months’ validity, for stays up to 20 days during each visit, for the audit/financial and IT/computer officials who travel on stated official business to their respective Diplomatic Missions and Consulates General will be issued within 15 working days.
The agreement says that on presentation of an official note by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stating the purpose of the visit, a non-extendable gratis entry visa will be issued within three working days, with a validity of up to fifteen days, to political authorities and officials travelling for specific bilateral purposes or to participate in a conference or seminar.
7. Vega rocket blasts off with gravity-hunting satellite
A Vega rocket bearing a European prototype satellite blasted into space on a mission to search for ripples in space and across time, a phenomenon predicted but never proven by physicist Albert Einstein 100 years ago. The trailblazing Laser Interferometer Space Antenna, or LISA, spacecraft will spend about six months testing a technique to detect ripples in space and across time. The ripples, known as gravitational waves, are caused by massive celestial bodies warping space, similar to a bowling ball rolling across a trampoline.

8. Union Government releases postage stamp to mark centenary year of ZSI
GOI has released a commemorative postage stamp to mark the Centenary year of Zoological Survey of India (ZSI). The postage stamp was released by Union Communication and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad in the presence of Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar in New Delhi. They also released publications of ZSI- The Centenary Souvenir, Centenary Directory and A Glorious 100

9. First India International Science Festival begins at IIT-Delhi
The first India International Science Festival (IISF) has begun at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Delhi campus. It has been organised by Union Ministry of Science and Technology. The IISF is expected to be the country’s biggest ever Technology and Industrial Expo. Around 4,000 delegates from India and abroad are expected to take part in the festival, which will conclude on 8th of this month.
The Five day festival will showcase the achievements of Indian scientists and institutions. It will explore ways to translate academic research into industrial applications benefiting the common man and encourage culmination of scientific temperament among youngsters, especially school children.

10. Saina nominated for BWF Woman Player of the Year Award
Ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal has been nominated for the Woman Player of the Year Award of the Badminton World Federation. Saina, currently ranked number two, will vie for the coveted honour along with world number one Carolina Marin of Spain, 2014 winner Zhao Yunlei of China and another Chinese Bao Yixin. The winners of the BWF Players of the Year Awards will be announced at the Players’ Reception and Gala Dinner for the Dubai World Superseries Finals on December 7 at Al Badia Golf Club here.

11. RBI announced revised Priority Sector Lending norms for Regional Rural Banks
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced revised Priority Sector Lending (PSL) norms for Regional Rural Banks (RRBs). Among other things, the PSL target was increased to 75 percent of total outstanding from the existing 60 percent. The revised target will be effective from 1 January 2016.
The PSL norms have been revised considering the growing significance of RRBs in pursuit of financial inclusion agenda. As on March 2015, there were 56 RRBs operating in the country with a network of 20059 branches. They cover 644 notified districts in 26 states and the Union Territory of Puducherry.
12. WHO released estimates of the global burden of foodborne diseases
The World Health Organisation has released its first ever report on foodborne diseases. The report was titled Estimates of the Global Burden of Foodborne Diseases, which is the most comprehensive report to date on the impact of contaminated food on health and wellbeing. The report provides the first estimates of global foodborne disease incidence, mortality, and disease burden in terms of Disability Adjusted Life Years (DALYs).
13. FIFA World Rankings announced; Belgium topped the list
The November edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings has been released. In the final rankings of 2015, While Belgium topped the list, Indian team jumped six places to reach the 166th spot.

14. Himachal Pradesh became first state to launch Rotavirus vaccination project
Himachal Pradesh has become the first state of India to launch Rotavirus vaccination project. The vaccine will help in controlling the child mortality rate (under five years of age) due to diarrhoea. Rotavirus vaccines are administered orally to infants in three dose course at ages of six, ten and fourteen weeks and are part of Universal Immunisation Programme (UIP).
The project was launched by the state Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh at Dharamsala in Kangra district. International Clinical Epidemiological Network will provide technical assistance and will also bear the entire cost of the vaccines.
Rotavirus is a most common causative agent of moderate-to-severe diarrhoea (MSD) among infants below 11 months age group in India.
15. Indian Navy Day
Indian Navy Day is observed on December 4 every year to commemorate Operation Trident’s commencement, as part of the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The President of India, Pranab Mukherjee has extended greetings and felicitations to all members of the Indian Navy and their families on the occasion of Navy Day 2015.
