1. India-Saudi Investment Forum 2023
An India-Saudi Arabia Investment Forum 2023 was organized in New Delhi during the state visit of Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince.
This marked a significant milestone as the first formal investment symposium between the two nations.
Over 500 companies from both countries participated in the event, reflecting the strong commitment to economic cooperation. The Saudi Crown Prince had previously announced an investment of approximately $100 billion in various sectors of the Indian economy.
2. Maharashtra Beats Karnataka To Win 5th National Wheelchair Rugby Championship
Maharashtra clinched the title of champions in the 5th National Wheelchair Rugby Championship 2023 by securing a convincing victory over Karnataka, concluding with a final score of 31-10.
This championship, which took place at Balewadi in Pune from September 10 to September 11, 2023, was marked by intense competition and served as a testament to the impressive development of wheelchair rugby in India.
The 5th National Wheelchair Rugby Championship 2023 was organized by The Indian Rugby Football Union (Rugby India), the governing body for rugby in India.
It was conducted in association with the Wheelchair Rugby Federation of India and Mitsubishi Corporation. This collaborative effort aimed to promote and expand the sport of wheelchair rugby across the nation.
3. Subroto Cup 2023: Bengaluru Joins Delhi and Gurugram as Host City
The Subroto Cup International Football Tournament, India’s oldest national inter-school football competition, is set to make history in its 62nd edition. Bengaluru, the Silicon Valley of India, has been added to the list of host cities for this prestigious event.
Previously held in Delhi and Gurugram, the tournament is scheduled to take place from September 19 to October 23, 2023, across three venues.
For many years, the Subroto Cup has been a showcase of young football talent in India. This year, the tournament’s organizers have taken a significant step towards expanding its reach by bringing Bengaluru into the fold.

4. India Ranking for Best Country in the World by U.S. News & World Report’s
India’s global ranking experienced a positive shift in 2023, ascending from the 31st position it held in the 2022 rankings to the 30th rank. The overall score was 40.8, indicative of this upward trajectory.
According to the report, India encompasses an expanse of 3,287,263 square kilometers and is inhabited by a population of 1,417,173,173, boasting a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of USD 3.39 trillion.
India is renowned for its abundant and varied traditions. In terms of cultural influence and heritage, India secured the 29th and 10th positions, respectively.

6. India’s Kiran George Clinches Indonesia Badminton Masters Title
Indian badminton player Kiran George secured a remarkable victory at the Indonesia Masters 2023, held in Medan, North Sumatra.
Competing at the GOR PBSI Pancing court, Kiran George, currently ranked 50th in the badminton rankings, displayed exceptional prowess as he defeated world No. 82 Koo Takahashi of Japan with a score of 21-19, 22-20, all within an intense battle lasting 56 minutes.
This triumph marked Kiran George’s Second BWF World Tour Super 100 badminton title, following his victory at the Odisha Open the previous year, where he defeated compatriot Priyanshu Rawat in the final.
7. India’s Sindhu Gangadharan appointed as Nasscom Vice-Chairperson
Sindhu Gangadharan, who holds the position of Senior Vice President and Managing Director at SAP Labs India and is also responsible for SAP User Enablement, has been named the Vice-Chairperson of The National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom).
In her new role, she will use her extensive experience in technology and corporate leadership, acquired over many years in India and Germany, to help shape India’s TechAde initiative.
8. Vijayawada Railway Station gets IGBC’s ‘Green Railway Station’ certification
Vijayawada Railway Station was awarded the ‘Green Railway Station’ certification with the highest rating of Platinum by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) for its efforts in improving environmental standards and providing eco-friendly services to passengers.
This is an upgrade of the station’s ratings, from gold in 2019 to platinum in 2023.
Some of these measures include the use of star-rated electrical appliances, LED lights, installation of a sewage treatment plant to recycle wastewater, periodic testing to check smoke emission, increasing green coverage, improvement in amenities for passengers, provision of medical facilities, proximity to bus stops, avoidance of single-use plastic, use of comprehensive mechanized cleaning for effective waste segregation and its disposal, among others.
