1. Indian Junior Men’s Hockey Team won Men’s Junior Asia Cup 2023
The Indian hockey team eked out a close 2-1 win over arch-rivals Pakistan in the final of the Men’s Junior Asia Cup 2023 in Salalah, Oman to successfully defend its title.
Playing in front of a near-capacity crowd at the Salalah Sports Complex, both teams looked threatening from the start but Angad Bir Singh’s strike in the 13th minute helped India get on the scoresheet.
Araijeet Singh Hundal, India’s top-scorer at Men’s Junior Asia Cup hockey 2023 with eight goals, doubled the lead five minutes into the second quarter.
2. Telangana on State’s Formation Day is observed on June 02
Telangana was formed out of Andhra Pradesh in 2014. Its long journey to Statehood began in 1952 and culminated on June 2, 2014, when K. Chandrasekhar Rao took oath as the first Chief Minister of the new State.
With the State stepping into the 10th year, the development in important sectors and the road ahead for the young State.
3. Parul University becomes the youngest private university in the country
Parul University, located in Vadodara, Gujarat, has recently set a new record by becoming the country’s youngest private university.
The university has already received a NAAC A++ grade in the first assessment cycle, which is a great achievement for an educational institution. Its cumulative grade point average is 3.55 CGPA.
Getting such Highest Achievable Grade was not easy for Parul University.
Several parameters were included for assessment such as teaching-learning methods, research and innovation policies, pedagogy, etc. A three-member NAAC team, that visited the university, found that the parameters were meeting the prescribed standards.
4. Microsoft joins Indian govt to train 6K students, 200 educators in cybersecurity skills
Microsoft has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Directorate General of Training (DGT) under the Ministry of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) to train 6,000 students and 200 educators in digital and cyber-security skills in the country.
As part of this collaboration with, Microsoft will offer a wide range of courses, including training in AI, cloud computing, web development and cybersecurity skills for students and 200 faculty members at government-led Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and National Skills Training Institutions (NSTIs).
5. TCS, Reliance, Jio top best Indian brands 2023 ranking
Interbrand, a renowned global brand consultancy, has declared that headquartered technology giant TCS and India’s most valuable company Reliance Industries have topped its list of the most valuable brands in India.
With a brand value of Rs 1.09 lakh crore, TCS topped the 2023 list, followed by Reliance Industries, led by billionaire Mukesh Ambani, with a brand value of Rs 65,320 crore.
Reliance Industries’ telecom and digital unit, Jio, follows next, positioned at number 5, with a brand value of Rs 49,027 crore.
6. Amarendu Prakash takes charge as SAIL chairman
Amarendu Prakash has taken charge as the new Chairman and Managing Director of Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) from May 31. He was previously the Director (In-charge) of SAIL’s Bokaro steel plan.
Prakash was previously involved in driving business transformation and financial turnaround of SAIL, which resulted in bringing back the company from a three year streak of losses, from FY16 toFY18, to being back in the black in FYI9.
7. Shashi Tharoor released a book titled “Ringside” written by Dr. Vijay Darda
Renowned author and Congress MP Dr. Shashi Tharoor released the book “Ringside” written by Lokmat Media Group Editorial Board Chairman and former MP Dr. Vijay Darda.
“Ringside” is a compilation of Dr Darda’s weekly articles published between 2011 and 2016 in Lokmat Media Group newspapers and other leading national and regional dailies.
8. Sanjay Varma takes charge as MRPL Managing Director
Sanjay Varma took over as the Managing Director (additional charge) of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL). Varma has been on the board of MRPL as Director (Refinery) since June 2020.
He has also had extensive exposure by being on the boards of ONGC-Mangalore Petrochemicals Ltd and Shell-MRPL Aviation.
A graduate of mechanical engineering, Varma joined MRPL in December 1993 and has played a pivotal role in the execution and operation of all three major phases of the refinery and its aromatic complex.
