1. Punyabhushan Award presented to archaeologist Dr. G.B. Deglurkar

The eminent Archeologist Dr. G.B. Deglurkar was conferred with prestigious Punyabhushan Award for his long-standing contribution to the field of Indian Archaeology through renowned Deccan College Post graduate & Research Institute. He was presented the award by Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu at an special public award function in Pune, Maharashtra.

2. Air Marshal HS Arora appointed as Vice Chief of Indian Air Force

Air Marshal Harjit Singh Arora has been appointed as the new Vice Chief of Indian Air Force (IAF). He will be succeeding Air Marshal RKS Bhadauria who will take over as Chief of Air Staff on September 30 after the retirement his predecessor and the incumbent Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief ACM BS Dhanoa.

3. MASCRADE 2019 organised by FICCI in Delhi

‘MASCRADE 2019’- Movement Against Smuggling and Counterfeit Trade scheduled’, an annual flagship FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry) event was held from 26-27 September 2019 in New Delhi.

This year was the sixth edition of MASCRADE event which was organised by FICCI CASCADE (Committee Against Smuggling and Counterfeiting Activities Destroying the Economy). The theme for MASCRADE 2019 is ‘Containing Counterfeiting, Smuggling and Piracy: A Winning Strategy’.

4. UNWTO selects India as host country to celebrate World Tourism Day 2019

The World Tourism Day which observed globally on 27 September is hosted by a different country every year. India has been selected as the host country for celebration of World Tourism Day 2019 by United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). This is for the very first time that India will host the day in its National Capital, New Delhi.

5. KAZIND-2019: lndo-Kazakhstan Joint Military Exercise to be held in Uttarakhand

A joint military exercise between India and Kazakhstan named KAZIND-2019 is scheduled to be held in Pithoragarh district, Uttarkhand from 3-15 October 2019. The exercise focuses mainly on counter terrorism operation.

6. Infosys wins UN Global Climate Action Award in ‘Climate Neutral Now’ category

Information Technology (IT) major Infosys has won the United Nations Global Climate Action Award (UNGCAA) in the ‘Climate Neutral Now’ category for “Infosys’ Journey to Carbon Neutrality”. The announcement of winners was made after UN Climate Summit in New York, US was convened by UN Secretary General (UNSG) Antonio Guterres.

7. World Rabies Day observed on september 28

World Rabies Day is an international awareness campaign coordinated by the Global Alliance for Rabies Control, a non-profit organization with headquarters in the United States. World Rabies Day aims to raise awareness about the impact of rabies on humans and animals, provide information and advice on how to prevent the disease in at-risk communities, and support advocacy for increased efforts in rabies control.

8. Access to Information Day observed on september 28

The International Day for the Universal Access to Information (commonly called the Access to Information Day) is an international day of recognition designated by the UNESCO General Conference to be held on 28 September. The day was inaugurated in November 2015 and was first held on 28 September 2016.

9. RBI allows PMC Bank customers to withdraw up to Rs 10,000

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has eased the restrictions on depositors of Punjab & Maharashtra Cooperative Bank (PMC Bank), two days after it put a Rs 1,000 cap on the money a saver could withdraw, triggering protests.

10. World Wrestling Rankings: Deepak Punia New No. 1 In 86kg, Bajrang Punia Loses Top Spot In 65kg Category

Deepak Punia, on the back of a silver medal in his World Wrestling Championships debut, has risen to the top of the rankings in the 86kg men’s freestyle category.

He now sits four points above world champion Haszan Yazdani, who he was supposed to face in the final of the World Championships. Bajrang Punia, who secured bronze in the 65kg men’s freestyle category in the Worlds, has dropped from the top spot in the rankings, with Gadzhimurad Rashidov overtaking him.

11. Thailand, India sign trade agreements for Rs 2,400 crore

Thailand and India have signed agreements for Rs 2,400 crore to boost trade ties between the two countries, Deputy Prime Minister of the southeast Asian country Jurin Laksanawisit said.

12. Plastic ban: Andhra Pradesh to impose green tax

Cracking the whip on pollutants, the Andhra Pradesh government decided to impose a green tax besides banning single-use plastic. To keep a check on pollution by industrial houses, the state will collect the green tax.

13. Water Conservation Campaign: Rajasthan first to be awarded for water use practices

Rajasthan has become the first state to be awarded for water conservation and efficient use practices by the National Water Mission of the Government of India under Category Two–Promotion of citizen and state action for water conservation, augmentation and preservation–of awards. The award given out by the Jal Shakti ministry is in line with the larger government campaign for water conservation and its supply to every household in the country.

14. Andhra Pradesh bags top honour at National Tourism Awards

Andhra Pradesh bagged the top honour at the National Tourism Awards 2017-18, which were presented by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu. A total of 76 awards were given under various categories this year.

Andhra Pradesh bagged the Best State award for overall growth in tourism category. Goa and Madhya Pradesh were the joint winners in the Adventure Tourism category and Uttarakhand won the award for the Best Film Promotion-Friendly State. Telangana won the award for the Best State for the innovative use of IT.
