1. Shri Amit Shah launches Emergency Response Support System ERSS- Dial 112
Union Minister for Home Affairs, Shri Amit Shah launched three citizen centric services of the Chandigarh Police, in Chandigarh. The services include the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS – Dial 112), ‘E-Beat Book’ System and the ‘E-Saathi App’.
2. National Conference on Agriculture- Rabi Campaign 2019 held in New Delhi
National Conference on Agriculture for Rabi Campaign 2019 was organized on 20 September 2019 at NASC, Pusa in New Delhi. The conference was inaugurated by Parshottam Rupala, Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare.
The Conference was also attended by senior officers from Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare (DAC&FW), DARE, Indian Council of Agriculture Reasearch (ICAR) & State Governments and Union Territories (UTs).
3. Sonu Nigam wins Award at 21st Century Icon Awards, UK
Popular Bollywood playback singer Sonu Nigam has been honoured with ‘Magnificent Performing Arts Award’ at the 21st Century Icon Awards in London, United Kingdom (UK).
4. Madhukar Kamath elected chairman of Audit Bureau of Circulations
Madhukar Kamath, chairman emeritus of advertising firm DDB Mudra group, has been elected as chairman of Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) for year 2019-2020. He has more than 4 decades of experience in advertising and marketing services.
5. Civil Aviation Minister orders setting up a mechanism to regularly Monitor Airfares
Union Minister for Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri has ordered setting up a mechanism to regularly monitor airfares in the country. With the setting up of new mechanism, the airfares will now be regularly monitored by Union Ministry of Civil Aviation and Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
6. Centre cuts Corporate Tax Rate for domestic investors
The Centre government has cut the effective corporate tax rate for existing domestic companies to 25.17% (from 34.94% now) and for new domestic companies, it will be 15% now. For this purpose the government has brought in Taxation Laws (Amendment) Ordinance 2019 to make certain amendments in Income-tax Act 1961 and Finance (No. 2) Act 2019.
7. Samuel Joseph Jebaraj appointed as DMD of IDBI Bank for 3 years
IDBI Bank’s Board of Directors approved the appointment of Samuel Joseph Jebaraj as Deputy Managing Director (DMD) for a period of 3 years with effect from September 19, 2019. The decision has been taken as per the approval received by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
This is the first major appointment on the Bank’s Board, in which the Life Insurance Corportion of India (LIC) acquired a majority stake of 51 per cent in January 2019. The DMD position became vacant after KP Nair superannuated in May 2019.
8. ISB Hyderabad ranked 7th globally and 1st in Asia in Forbes Best International 1-Year Business Schools 2019
Indian School of Business (ISB) Hyderabad, Telangana ranked 7th globally and 1st in Asia in the Forbes Best International 1-Year Business Schools 2019 rankings. The Forbes surveyed more than 100 schools. The annual Forbes list ranked the schools on their 5-year MBA (Master of Business Administration) gain.
ISB participated in the ranking for the first time.

9. Bank of Baroda launches agri digital platform
Bank of Baroda launched its agri digital platform “Baroda Kisan”. The platform can also be accessed on mobiles by farmers.
“The web-based portal will cater to all the needs of farmers, including weather forecasts, crop conditions, the moisture levels of the soil, information on crop worms, market prices, special crop-related consultation,” the public sector bank said in a statement.
10. Narendra Modi to gift ‘Gandhi Solar Park’ to UN in New York
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will gift ‘Gandhi Solar Park’ to the United Nations when he attends the Climate Action Summit 2019 in New York, during his week long visit to the US.
The 50 kilowatt hour (kWh) roof-top solar park has 193 solar panels—each representing a member of the multilateral body. The $1 million gift to the UN comes at a time when India has emerged as a clean energy champion.
11. Max Bupa and Indian Bank ink bancassurance tie-up to offer health insurance solutions
Max Bupa, a standalone health insurance player, has announced a bancassurance corporate agency agreement with Indian Bank, a state-owned bank.
Under the agreement, Max Bupa will provide comprehensive health insurance solutions and services to over 40 million customers of Indian Bank spread across 2800 branch network, through a slew of digital touch points.
12. Delhi CM launches ‘champions campaign’ against dengue
Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal launched “champions campaign” in the fight against dengue and urged people to encourage their friends to inspect their homes to clean stagnant water.
13. IndiGo board appoints advocate Pallavi Shardul Shroff as independent director
India’s largest domestic airline, InterGlobe Aviation Limited operated IndiGo, said that the board of directors of the airline has approved the appointment of advocate Pallavi Shardul Shroff as an independent woman director in the company.
Shroff, who’s a managing partner at law firm Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co, has been inducted in the airline’s board, with effect from 19 September, IndiGo said in a statement.
