1. Dhruvi Patel wins Miss India Worldwide 2024

Dhruvi Patel, a student studying Computer Information Systems in the USA, has been announced as the winner of Miss India Worldwide 2024. This pageant is the oldest Indian beauty competition held outside of India. It brings together contestants from India as well as Indian communities living in different countries around the world.

About Miss India Worldwide

Miss India Worldwide is an international beauty pageant that focuses on Indian women from both India and the global Indian diaspora (people of Indian origin living in other countries). The pageant is organized by the India Festival Committee (IFC), which was started by Dharmatma Saran in New York City, USA. The competition has become a prominent event that celebrates Indian culture and beauty on a global stage.

2. Raksha Mantri flags-in first-of-its-kind Open Water Swimming Expedition to 21 Islands of Andaman & Nicobar

Raksha Mantri (Defence Minister) Shri Rajnath Singh, in a special event held in New Delhi, officially welcomed back participants of a unique Open Water Swimming Expedition. This expedition covered 21 islands in the Andaman & Nicobar archipelago, which were named after Param Vir Chakra (PVC) Awardees. The Param Vir Chakra is India’s highest military honor, awarded for acts of valor during wartime.

Background

On January 23, 2023, during Parakram Diwas (a day honoring the bravery of Indian soldiers and commemorating the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose), Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi named the 21 largest unnamed islands in the Andaman & Nicobar region after recipients of the Param Vir Chakra. This act was a tribute to the soldiers’ heroism and an effort to keep their legacies alive.

This swimming expedition, which connected all 21 islands, was the first of its kind and highlighted the bravery and dedication of the PVC awardees, while showcasing the rich geographical beauty of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

3. Kerala Retains Top Spot In India Food Index for Second Consecutive Year

Kerala has once again secured the first position in the State Food Safety Index (SFSI) 2024, making this the second year in a row that the state has achieved the top rank. The results were announced during the FSSAI Global Food Regulators Summit 2024, in its inaugural session.

The State Food Safety Index (SFSI) is an annual assessment released by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). Launched in 2018-19, the goal of this index is to encourage states to improve their food safety systems and create a positive and competitive environment for ensuring food safety across the country.

The index helps ensure that citizens have access to safe and nutritious food, promoting better health and well-being. States are ranked based on various factors like food testing infrastructure, regulatory compliance, training, and capacity-building efforts. Kerala’s consistent performance highlights its commitment to maintaining high standards in food safety.

4. YES BANK and Paisabazaar Launch Feature-rich ‘PaisaSave’ Cashback Credit Card
