1. Andhra Pradesh State to ban the private practice by govt. doctors

The Andhra Pradesh State government has announced that it is to ban the private practice by doctors working in government hospitals. The announcement was made by Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy after consulting with the committee on reforms in the health sector.

Also, as compensation, the govt. has announced to increase their salaries in accordance with the recommendations made by the experts committee on reforms in the health sector headed by former Union Health Secretary K. Sujatha Rao. The committee members have been asked to prepare proposals for an increase in doctors’ salaries.

2. PM jointly unveiled the Buddha Statue in Mongolia

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mongolian President H.E. Mr. Khaltmaagiin Battulga jointly unveiled a statue of Lord Buddha and his two disciples. The statue was installed at the historic Gandan Tegchenling Monastery in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

3. Air Marshal RKS Bhadauria appointed next Chief of Indian Air Force

Government has decided to appoint present Vice Chief of Air Staff Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria as next Chief of Air Staff. He will take charge from the incumbent Air Ch+ief Marshal BS Dhanoa who is set to retire on September 30. At present, he is the senior most officer in Inidan Air Force after BS Dhanoa.

4. Digital Payment Abhiyan: DSCI, MeitY and Google India join hands

Nasscom’s Data Security Council of India (DSCI) has collaborated with Union Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) and Google India to launch nationwide awareness campaign ‘Digital Payment Abhiyan’. It was launched by Union Communications and Electronics & IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad at Google-organised event ‘Google for India’ in New Delhi.

5. Social Justice Minister T C Gehlot launches MIS portal under Accessible India Campaign

Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawar chand Gehlot launched a Management Information System (MIS) under Accessible India Campaign in New Delhi. The portal is made fully accessible for Divyangjans. It will be useful in maintaining all the function on digital platform and capture data on a real – time basis.

6. Cabinet approves promulgation of Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Ordinance 2019

Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the Promulgation of Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes (production, manufacture, import, export, transport, sale, distribution, storage and advertisement) Ordinance, 2019. The decision is being seen as a major health and wellness initiative for the country.

7. Government notifies 8.65% interest rate for over 6 crore EPF

The government has approved 8.65 per cent interest rate on employees provident fund for 2018-19, which will now be crediited into the accounts of over 6 crore subscribers of retirement fund body EPFO.

8. Shri Pralhad Joshi confers the National Geoscience Awards

The National Geoscience Awards for the year 2018 for outstanding contributions in the field of geosciences, mining and allied areas were presented to twenty-two scientists from across the country.

The Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines, Shri Pralhad Joshi, while conferring the awards said that the need of the hour is to strengthen the synergy between the professional and academic institutions working in field of geoscience.

9. Vinesh Phogat became the first Indian wrestler to seal an Olympics berth

India’s star wrestler Vinesh Phogat won a bronze medal in the 53kg class at the ongoing World Wrestling Championships in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan and securing a Tokyo Olympics quota. The Indian skipper took to Twitter to congratulate Vinesh on her remarkable achievement as she became the first Indian wrestler to seal an Olympics berth.
