Veteran Bollywood actor Anupam Kher has received Parmod Mahajan Smriti Award in Pune. Anupam Kher was recently appointed as Chairman of Film and Television Institute of India.
- Venezuela’s opposition awarded European Union’s Sakharov Prize for human rights
Venezuela’s democratic opposition was awarded the European Union’s human rights award and the European Parliament called for a peaceful transition to democracy in the troubled country.
The prize, named after Soviet physicist and dissident Andrei Sakharov, was awarded to Venezuela’s opposition-led National Assembly legislature, which the government has stripped of powers.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Shri Giriraj Singh launched MSME Delayed Payment Portal – MSME Samadhaan (http://msefc.msme.gov.in), empowering micro and small entrepreneurs across the country to directly register their cases relating to delayed payments.
The Portal will give information about the pending payment of MSEs with individual CPSEs / Central Ministries, State Governments, etc.
The CEO of PSEs and the Secretary of the Ministries concerned will also be able to monitor the cases of delayed payment under their jurisdiction and issue necessary instructions to resolve the issues.

India and the United Arab Emirates have held the second round of their strategic dialogue in Abu Dhabi to deepen cooperation in a range of areas such as trade and investment.
The Indian delegation at the talks was led by Minister of State for External Affairs M.J. Akbar while the UAE side was headed by its Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Anwar Gargash.

Goals from Vishal Antil (15’, 25’), Vivek Prasad (11’) and Shilanand Lakra (21’) were enough for India to finish their tournament with the Bronze medal.

Former BCCI general manager MV Sridhar has died of a cardiac arrest. Originally a doctor, MV Sridhar was considered one of the best batsmen ever from Hyderabad never to have played for India. A stylish right-hander, MV Sridhar had scored a century on debut and 366 against Andhra in 1993-94, then a record.
Sridhar had resigned from the BCCI post this September after he had reportedly failed to report a few conflict of interests.
