- Purnachandra Rao elected as Regional President of IACC
Hyderabad-based industrialist Purnachandra Rao Surapaneni has been elected unanimously as the Regional President for South India Council of The Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC).
Currently, he is the national executive committee member and he will be serving in this position for one year.
- Telangana CM to lay foundation stone for Kakatiya textile park
The troubled textile sector in Telangana State is all set to get a booster dose with the Government taking up the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal district.
State Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will lay the foundation stone for the Park which will come up over a 2,000 acre campus between Shyampet and Chintapalli villages.
- PM Modi to launch India’s first ‘Ro-Ro’ ferry service in Gujarat
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch India’s first roll on-roll off or ‘Ro-Ro’ ferry services between Ghogha in Saurashtra’s Bhavnagar district and Dahej in Bharuch district on October 22.
The Rs 615 crore ‘Ro-Ro’ ferry service between Ghogha and Dahej, which PM Modi described as his “dream project” while addressing a gathering at Gandhinagar, will be able to carry up to 100 vehicles (cars, buses, and trucks) and 250 passengers.
- Kerala to give sabbatical leave to academics for launching startups
Kerala government has given green signal to a proposal of the state Startup Mission (KSUM) to accord sabbatical leave to the faculty members of all colleges who intend to establish startups.
The new initiative would help members of the academic community in the state to become part of entrepreneurship, a statement said in Thiruvananthapuram.
An expert panel, headed by KSUM CEO Saji Gopinath, will select 10 faculty members on a pilot basis for the implementation of the project.
- Rajasthan limits probes against public servants
The Vasundhara Raje government has passed an ordinance, which seeks to protect both serving and former judges, magistrates and public servants in Rajasthan from being investigated for on-duty action without its prior sanction.
The Criminal Laws (Rajasthan Amendment) Ordinance, 2017, promulgated on September 7, also seeks to bar the media from reporting on accusations till the sanction to proceed with the probe is obtained.
- GSTN starts offline utility for GSTR-3B filing
GST Network has launched an excel-based offline tool for businesses to file initial GSTR-3B returns.
Taxpayers can download the offline utility from the GSTN portal under the download section and after fill in the data.
Following this, the file can be uploaded on GST portal. After uploading of the return to the GST Portal, the taxpayer has to preview the form, complete formalities like submit, offset the liability and file their GSTR-3B Return using digital signature or electronic verification code
- Linking Aadhaar to bank accounts mandatory, clarifies RBI
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has clarified that linking bank accounts to Aadhaar is mandatory under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, dismissing media reports which suggested that such a linkage is not mandatory.
The Reserve Bank clarifies that, in applicable cases, linkage of Aadhaar number to bank account is mandatory under the Prevention of Money-laundering (Maintenance of Records) Second Amendment Rules, 2017 published in the Official Gazette on June 1, 2017.

- Cassini scientists find toxic ice on Saturn’s moon
Researchers with NASA’s Cassini mission have found evidence of a toxic hybrid ice in a wispy cloud high above the south pole of Saturn’s largest moon, Titan.
The finding is a new demonstration of the complex chemistry occurring in Titan’s atmosphere—in this case, cloud formation in the giant moon’s stratosphere—and part of a collection of processes that ultimately helps deliver a smorgasbord of organic molecules to Titan’s surface.
- Indian boxers win 8 medals in Balkan Open
Indian pugilists returned with an impressive haul of eight medals, including four golds, from the third Youth International Championships Balkan Open 2017 at Sofia, Bulgaria.
Besides four golds, the Indian boxers won one silver and three bronze medals while Indian youth team was also adjudged as the best team in the championship.
Nitu (48kg), Sakshi (54kg), Shashi (57kg) and Neha Yadav (+81kg) won the golds, while silver went to Ankushita Boro (64kg).
The bronze medals were won by Joy Kumari (51kg), Sapna (75kg) and Anupama (+81kg).
