New Zealand will get its youngest Prime Minister in more than 150 years after the small, nationalist New Zealand First Party agreed to form a new government with Labour Party leader Jacinda Ardern, ending the National Party’s decade in power.
The outcome caps a remarkable rise for Ms. Ardern, 37, who only took over the party’s top job in August, and marks another victory for a youthful global leader promising change, with big implications for the world’s 11th most traded currency, the central bank, immigration and foreign investment.

- Snapdeal’s CFO Anup Vikal quits
E-commerce firm Snapdeal was its chief financial officer Anup Vikal has put in his papers.
The development comes two months after acquisition talks between Snapdeal and larger rival Flipkart collapsed.
Snapdeal Co-Founder and CEO Kunal Bahl said Vikal has done sterling work at the firm, building high levels of governance and helping structure various transactions of importance for the company.
- Mumbai civic body opens online portal for business approvals
The civic body has now introduced an online single window system to issue permissions for new businesses and factories. Henceforth, all new business permissions will be available through the online portal and the BMC will stop accepting physical applications.
The system has been started on a trial basis between October 17 and 30. It will be fully operational from October 31.

The French parliament has adopted a controversial anti-terror bill that gives the authorities permanent new powers to search homes, shut places of worship and restrict freedom of movement.
The new law, which will replace the state of emergency imposed after the 2015 Paris attacks, was approved by the Senate on its second reading, despite campaigners warning of a threat to civil liberties.
- First Ever Tri-Services India-Russia War Exercise – Indra
Over 400 Army personnel and multiple units of Air Force and Navy have arrived in Russia to participate in the first ever India-Russia Tri-Services war games.
The 10-day mega military exercise named Indra will primarily focus on achieving coordination between forces of the two countries in a tri-services integrated theatre command scenario.
The military exercise will be conducted at the 249th Combined Army Range Sergiyevisky and in the Sea of Japan near Vladivostok.

Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhanhas inaugurated Odisha’s first PNG (Piped Natural Gas) project in Bhubaneswar.
The PNG supply, a part of ‘Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga’, was launched almost six months before the deadline of March 2018 set by the Minister.
Pradhan, in association with GAIL (India) Limited, commenced PNG supply to 255 houses in Nalco Nagar of Bhubaneswar in the first phase of the project.
