1. Forbes India Rich List Mukesh Ambani retains top position for 12th straight year

Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) Chairman Mukesh Ambani bagged the number one spot with $51.4 billion net worth on Forbes list of richest Indians for the year 2019. Gautam Adani came a close second as he jumped 8 spots on the list with a net worth of $15.7 billion.

2. Dutee Chand Breaks Her Own 100m Record at National Open Athletics Championships

Dutee Chand won the 100-meter national record with a time of 11.22 seconds during the semi-finals at the National Open Athletics Championships in Ranchi. The previous national record was 11.26 seconds held jointly by Dutee and Rachita Mistry. Dutee Chand also bettered her personal best time. by 0.04 seconds, that she registered at the Asian Athletics Championships back in April this year.

3. India- Bangladesh Navies to participate in maiden bilateral drill at Visakhapatnam

Navies of India and Bangladesh will participate for the first time in a IN-BN Bilateral Exercise at Visakhapatnam from 12 to 16 October 2019. This exercise which takes place a week after Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to India, will entail development of mutual communication and sharing of best practices, thus adding a new dimension to India- Bangladesh maritime relations.

4. Indira Gandhi Award for National Integration awarded to Chandi Prasad Bhatt

Environmentalist Chandi Prasad Bhatt was awarded Indira Gandhi Award for National Integration for the years 2017 and 2018 for his services in promoting and preserving national integration in the country. The award would be presented on 31 October 2019, in a function at Jawahar Bhawan, New Delhi.

5. West Bengal govt. to set up Kanyashree University in Nadia district to empower girls

The state government of West Bengal is setting up Kanyashree University in Nadia district and Kanyashree colleges across the state so as to empower girls. The Kanyashree university would be only for women. Earlier in January 2019, the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee laid the foundation stone of new Kanyashree university at Krishnagar in Nadia district.

6. October 12: World Migratory Bird Day

World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD) is an awareness – raising campaign organized by CMS (Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of wild animals) and AEWA (Agreement on the Conservation of African – Eurasian Migratory water birds) that highlights.

7. Yes Bank appoints Anita Pai as COO, Jasneet Bachal as CMO

Yes Bank Ltd appointed Anita Pai as chief operating officer and Jasneet Bachal as chief marketing officer, the bank said in an exchange filing.

Pai, who was senior general manager and head of ATM business at ICICI Bank Ltd, will lead the bank’s operations and service delivery. She will also look after the information technology functions of the lender. Bachal will head the marketing and communication efforts, the bank said.

8. BoB, BNP Paribas arms to merge mutual fund biz

Baroda Asset Management India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bank of Baroda and BNP Paribas Asset Management India, a subsidiary of BNP Paribas Asset Management Asia (BNPP AM), will merge their mutual fund business, subject to regulatory approvals.

Both Bank of Baroda and BNP Paribas Asset Management Asia have entered into a binding agreement to merge their business which involves no cash consideration, said BoB in a statement.

9. Titan MD Bhaskar Bhat retires, C K Venkataraman takes over

Private sector Titan CompanyNSE 0.72 % announced that its Managing Director (MD)Bhaskar Bhat has retired after 33 years of service in the company.

In a regulatory filing, the company also said that C.K. Venkataraman, who was the CEO of the jewellery business since 2005, has taken over the role of MD with effect from October 1.

10. ADB Grants $37 Million for a 47.5 MW Floating Solar Project in Vietnam

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has signed a $37 million loan agreement that would finance the installation of a 47.5 MW floating solar project in Vietnam.

The global lender has signed the agreement with Da Nhim–Ham Thuan–Da Mi Hydro Power Joint Stock Company (DHD) to facilitate the floating solar installation on the man-made reservoir of DHD’s existing 175 MW Da Mi hydropower project.
