1. Devendra Fadnavis resigns as Maharashtra chief minister

The Maharashtra assembly needs to prove the majority; the BJP found itself wanting for numbers and decided to pull the plug on its bid for power. Fadnavis announced his resignation to Governor BS Koshyari since the BJP was not in a position to form the government. The Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress alliance paraded 162 MLAs. Of them, 52 were from the NCP.

Sharad Pawar is confident of the 53rd lawmaker returning to the party fold, which would have left Ajit Pawar as the sole defector. The party claimed the support of in its letter to Governor Koshyari on November 22, the BJP was left with 116 lawmakers 105 of its own and 11 from smaller parties and independents far short of the halfway mark of 144. The NCP and Congress to together stake the claim to power and form the government.

2. India attends WATEC Conference in Israel

3. Centre introduces bill to merge Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli in Lok Sabha

The Center introduced the Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (Merger of Union Territories) Bill 2019 in Lok Sabha.

About the Bill :

The bill seeks to merge the two union territories into one that is yet to be taken up for consideration and passage in the Lower House, was introduced by the minister of state for home affairs G. Kishen Reddy.The move comes three months after Jammu and Kashmir was divided into two UTs Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.

4. Centre introduces Bill to amend SPG Act in Lok Sabha

Minister of State for Home G. Kishan Reddy on Monday introduced the Special protection Group Bill 2019 in Lok Sabha. The Bill demands to focus more on the security of Prime Minister, saying it should be of paramount importance to the government. Former PM’s families if not residing with them will not security.

5. Suman Billa to become Director of UNWTO

Suman Billa, a Kerala cadre IAS officer from 1996 batch will join United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) at its headquarter in Madrid, Spain. He will take charge as Director, technical cooperations.

6. India-Netherland: “Water 4 change”, an urban water management system

The Centre for Water Resources Development and Management (CWRDM), operating under the Government of Kerala has launched the “Water 4 Change”. Under the project, six prominent institutions from Netherlands will perform a long-term research and field level action on urban water management systems along with Indian scientists.

7. 26 November 2019: 70th Constitution Day

Every year India celebrates 26 November as Constitution Day also known as Samvidhan Divas. The day is celebrated to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India on 26 November 1949 by Indian Constituent Assembly. However, the Indian Constitution came into force on 26 January 1950 marking the beginning of a new era in history of Indian Republic. The year 2019 marks the 70th Constitution Day.

8. Sangram Dahiya, Varsha Varman win double trap national titles

Haryana’s Sangram Dahiya and Varsha Varman of Madhya Pradesh clinched double trap titles, winning gold at the 63rd National Shotgun Shooting Championship in New Delhi.

In men’s category, Sangram shot 142 out of 150 targets to leave behind former world champion Ankur Mittal, who managed 137 hits over the five rounds of 30 targets each to win a silver. Punjab’s Prithvi Singh Chahal won bronze with a score of 135.

9. Three Indians win Golden Target award

Despite competing in the company of two of the world’s best shooters Anjum Moudgil and Apurvi Chandela, the young Elavenil Valarivan was able to close the season as the World No.1 in women’s air rifle.

She will be given the Golden Target award by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) in Munich, Germany, on December 7. The Golden Target is the award given by the ISSF as a “tribute to the best athletes of the year according to the annual ranking in each of the individual Olympic events”.

10. Hyderabad: ‘She Shuttle’ for women launched

In a move to improve measures for the safety and security of women, the Rachakonda Police inaugurated the exclusive bus service for women passengers in Hyderabad.

Speaking to the media, Mahesh Bhagwat, CP, Rachakonda, said: “On the occasion of the International Day of Elimination of Violence against women, Infosys has taken up a valuable initiative to launch an exclusive bus service for women.”

11. Ashok Leyland, ICICI Bank ink MoU for vehicle financing

Commercial vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leyland Ltd. (ALL) has entered into a two-year memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ICICI Bank to offer customised financial solutions to customers across India with a focus on semi-urban and rural geographies.

With this MoU, ICICI Bank will be a preferred financier for providing finance to customers buying ALLAshok Leyland vehicles. The bank will work in close coordination with the authorised dealers of Ashok Leyland to provide financial solutions to the customers, said the company in a statement.

12. Railways sets up Institute for Financial Management in Hyderabad

The Indian Railway Institute of Financial Management (IRIFM) has been set up here. The new entity, set up to impart professional training in management of railway finances, was formally inaugurated by Vinod Kumar Yadav, Chairman, Railway Board, on a 14-acre campus at Moula-Ali, Secunderabad.

Speaking on the occasion, Yadav said, “IRIFM will herald a fine chapter in financial management in Indian Railways.”

13. National Milk Day – November 26

Amul, an Indian cooperative dairy company, marked November 26 (Tuesday) as the National Milk Day to honour late Chairman Dr Verghese Kurien on his birth anniversary. Dr Kurien who is also called ‘the father of White Revolution’ in the country would have turned 98.
