1. UP govt launches immunisation campaign against Filaria
Uttar Pradesh government launches a massive immunization campaign against the filariasis or Filaria. The Central government has the set year 2021 as the deadline for complete eradication of filaria in the country.
The campaign of more than 65 thousand teams of health workers will distribute medicines to around 6.5 crore people till 10 December in 19 districts. The Health and Family Welfare Minister Jai Pratap Singh at present, there are 1.25 lakh cases of filaria in these 19 districts. Last year as a pilot project, triple-drug therapy was tested in 5 districts of the country, including Varanasi.
2. Madhya Pradesh govt to give 5% reservation to sportspersons in jobs
Madhya Pradesh’s government announced a five percent reservation to sportspersons in state government jobs. Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare Jitu Patwari announced while inaugurating the Regional Olympic Games in GwaliorThe Chief Minister’s recommendation, an arrangement is being made in the new sports policy so that sportspersons can get a 5 percent reservation in government jobs.
3. Astronomers Have Detected Record-Breaking Light Emissions From Gamma-Ray Bursts
Scientists have managed to see two violent explosions in galaxies that are billions of light-years away. The results from the study published in the journal Nature. The explosions were gamma-rays bursts or short eruptions of the most energetic form of light.
The second captured in January, produced light that contained 100 billion times as much energy as the light visible to human eyes. The telescopes (Hubble Space Telescope) on Earth had to catch the light barely 50 seconds after the Gamma-ray bursts appeared since they last for only a few seconds.The Major Atmospheric Gamma Imaging Cherenkov (MAGIC) telescopes in the Canary Islands were the first to see the bursts.
4. India and China spar over legacy of traditional medicinal system Sowa-Rigpa
India and China is one of the oldest systems of traditional medicine, known as Sowa-Rigpa, which has similarities with Ayurveda.India sought recognition of the ancient medicinal tradition as its intangible cultural heritage.

Sowa-Rigpa is a traditional Tibetan system of medicine practiced in India. It is popular in Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal’s Darjeeling, Himachal Pradesh. The theory and practices of Sowa Rigpa are similar to that of Ayurveda and include a few principles of the traditional Chinese system of medicine.
5. 25 November: International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women
Every year 25 November is observed as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The official Theme for 2019 it is “Orage the World: Generation Equality Stands Against Rape“.
6. National Tribal Craft Mela- 2019 being held in Bhubaneswar
Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the 8th National Tribal Craft Mela at State Tribal Museum Complex in Bhubaneswar. The seven-day long event will be opened for public from 2.00 PM to 8.00 PM every day from 23 to 29 November.
7. Etawah Lion Safari inaugurated in Uttar Pradesh
The Etawah Lion Safari, formally known as Etawah Safari Park was thrown open for public in Uttar Pradesh on 24 November 2019 without the lion segment. It is a drive-through safari park located in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh and is one of the biggest safari parks in Asia with an area of 350 hectares (860 acres).
8. Manipur Sangai Festival 2019 being organised in Imphal
The 2019 edition of Manipur Sangai Festival is being organised from 24-30 November in Imphal. Every year in November, Gateway of North-East region, Manipur celebrates the ‘Sangai Festival’, which was named after the State animal, Sangai, the brow-antlered deer found only in Manipur.
9. Lakshya Sen wins 4th title of the season, claims Scottish Open
Fast-rising Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen claimed his fourth title in three months, bagging the Scottish Open title with a thrilling win over Brazil’s Ygor Coelho in the men’s singles summit clash here.
The top-seeded Indian overcame his Brazilian opponent 18-21, 21-18, 21-19 in a 56-minute final on Sunday night.
10. Rafael Nadal clinches sixth Davis Cup title
In tennis, world number one Rafael Nadal has clinched sixth Davis Cup title for Spain after beating Denis Shapovalov of Canada in front of a jubilant home crowd in Madrid. Nadal defeated Shapovalov 6-3, 7-6 (9-7) to clinch Spain’s 2-0 win against Canada.
11. Inox Wind gets SECI extension to commission 550 MW wind projects
Wind energy solutions provider Inox WindNSE said it has been granted extension by state-run SECI for the scheduled commissioning of 550 MW inter-state transmission system (ISTS) connected wind power projects in Gujarat. The time extension has been granted by Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) due to delay in operationalisation of long-term access by the central transmission utility, Inox Wind said in a regulatory filing to BSE.
12. K-Pop artist Goo Hara found dead at home aged 28
South Korean singer and actress Goo Hara has been found dead at her home in Seoul, police say. The 28-year-old is best known as a former member of the K-Pop group Kara, which she joined in 2008. Goo had also appeared on television and released music by herself.
13. Truecaller to foray into credit business in early 2020: Co-founder Nami Zarringhalam
Truecaller plans to use its payments platform to foray into credit business early 2020, turning it into a complete fin-tech company, co-founder Nami Zarringhalam said here.
In an exclusive interview to the PTI at the company headquarters, Nami said the Truecaller is becoming a “superapp”, providing a spectrum of services to its consumers.
14. Last Sumatran rhino dies in Malaysia, smallest rhino species now extinct in Malaysia
The last Sumatran rhinoceros in Malaysia died , leaving the smallest species of rhino which once roamed all across Asia — even till India — almost extinct with only around 80 rhinos alive, primarily in Indonesia.
The last Sumatran rhino in Malaysia, a 25-year-old female named Iman, who has been cared for in a wildlife reserve since her capture in 2014, died of cancer in the state of Sabah on the island of Borneo. She had been suffering from uterine tumours since before her capture.
15. More than one-fourth of households in villages have no access to toilets – NSO
More than one-fourth of households in villages have no access to toilets, according to the latest official survey conducted by the National Statistical Office (NSO).
Around 71.3 per cent of rural households and 96.2 per cent of urban households had access to toilets during 2018, according to the NSO’s “Drinking Water, Sanitation, Hygiene and Housing Condition in India” report, released on Saturday. The survey was conducted between July and December last year.
16. Greta Thunberg wins International Children’s Peace Prize
Greta Thunberg, a young environmental activist, was recently awarded the International Children’s Peace Prize. She has been given this honour to fight for environmental protection.
Thunberg has launched a campaign against climate change with schoolchildren around the world. Cameroon’s peace activist 15-year-old Divina Maloum has also been awarded the International Children’s Peace Prize. Dutch children’s rights organization ‘Kids Right’ has been giving this award since 2005.
