1. Nitish Kumar takes oath as Bihar Chief Minister for 4th straight term

Nitish Kumar has been sworn in as the Bihar Chief Minister for a fourth straight term at a ceremony in Patna. The oath was administered by Governor Phagu Chauhan. While Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda were present at the ceremony, RJD decided to boycott the event.

2. Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi sworn in as Deputy CMs of Bihar

BJP leaders Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi were sworn in as the Deputy Chief Ministers of Bihar on Monday. Former Bihar Deputy CM Sushil Modi had earlier tweeted, “BJP and Sangh Parivar gave me so much in political life of 40 years that possibly no other leader has gotten. I’ll discharge whatever responsibility I’m given.”

3. HDFC Mutual Fund appoints Navneet Munot as MD and CEO

HDFC Mutual Fund has appointed Navneet Munot as its Managing Director and CEO, it said in a notification to the stock exchanges today. He will succeed the present Managing Director Milind Barve, whose extended term ends in January next year. Munot is currently the Chief Investment Officer at SBI Mutual Fund, where he has worked for 12 years.

4. November 16: International Day for Tolerance

Every year, the International Day for Tolerance is celebrated on November 16 by the UNESCO and several other international organizations. The day is celebrated to increase awareness about importance of tolerance in the society. It also aims to increase awareness among people about the negative effects of intolerance.

5. SpaceX Crew-1 Mission: Four Astronauts launched into space

On November 16, 2020, SpaceX launched four astronauts into the space under Mission Crew 1. The Crew Dragon capsule becomes the first spacecraft to be certified by NASA after 40 years. Being the first in a series, there will be regular flights by the SpaceX to the International Space Station.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled “Statue of Peace”. The statue is being unveiled to mark the 151st birth anniversary of Jain Acharya Shree Vijay Vallabh Surishwer Ji Maharaj.

9. Dr Harsh Vardhan attends 8th BRICS STI Ministerial Meet

The 8th BRICS Science, Technology and Innovation Ministerial Meeting was held through a virtual platform for Science and Technology cooperation among the member countries, which are Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. The meeting was held under the Chairmanship of the Russian Federation. (Russia is the Chair for 12th BRICS Summit).

10. S. Jaishankar Represents India at 15th East Asia Summit 2020

The External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar has represented India at the 15th East Asia Summit (EAS) on behalf of PM Modi. The Summit was chaired by the Prime Minister of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc because Vietnam is ASEAN Chair in 2020 (ASEAN holds the central role and leadership in the forum). All the 18 EAS countries participated in the virtual Summit.
