1. India and Russia to set up cyber security

India and Russia are to set up cybersecurity cooperation in the backdrop of cyber-attack on the Kudankulam nuclear power plant. The plant was built by a global nuclear major, Rosatom.

2. The 7th edition of the North East Festival was held in New Delhi

The 7th edition of the North East Festival concluded at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) in New Delhi on 11 November 2019. The festival is celebrated every year.

The festival showcased the northeast culture, fashion, food, music, and art. The Northeast festival was inaugurated by the Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju. The event was organized by Shyamkanu Mahanta.

3. Bhavantar Bharpayee Yojna Scheme: Haryana includes more crops

The state government Haryana has decided to bring more crops under its ‘Bhavantar Bharpayee Yojna (BBY)’ scheme. The decision was taken at a BBY’s review meeting which was presided by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

About Bhavantar Bharpayee Yojna (BBY) scheme

BBY is a scheme for vegetable growers. Under it farmers get compensated for selling their crop at a price lower than that fixed by government. The scheme launched in January 2018 then included potato, onion, tomato and cauliflower. It has been very successful in past two years it.

4. International Lavi fair being organised in Himachal Pradesh

The four-day-long International Lavi fair is being organised in Rampur district of Shimla, Himanchal Pradesh from 11 to 14 November 2019. It was inaugurated by Himachal Pradesh Governor Bandaru Dattatreya. The governor also inaugurated ‘Kinnauri market’ and an exhibition organised by various government departments.

5. India attends International Treaty of Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture

India attended the eighth session of the International Treaty of Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA) at Rome, Italy. Agriculture Minister Shri Narendra Tomar attended the session representing India.

The Treaty is in harmony with the Convention on Biological Diversity. The treaty was negotiated through FAO.

6. World Kindness Day is an international observance on 13 November

World Kindness Day is to highlight good deeds in the community focusing on the positive power and the common thread of kindness which binds us. Kindness is a fundamental part of the human condition which bridges the divides of race religion, politics, gender and zip codes.

7. Mauritius PM Pravind Jugnauth takes oath after election win

Mauritius’s incumbent Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth was sworn in for a five-year term after elections in which his coalition consolidated its grip on parliament.

Jugnauth, 57, took over from his father in 2017 without going through a vote, and the decisive victory of his centre-right Morisian Alliance in the November 7 elections has strengthened his legitimacy.

8. JioTV wins IPTV Innovation Award at World Communication Awards

JioTV, the extremely popular TV and broadcast content app enjoyed by hundreds of millions of mobile phone users has been conferred the award for IPTV Innovation at the World Communication Awards 2019, at a ceremony in London, said a release from the company.

9. Amazon launches ‘Project Zero’ in India to block counterfeit goods

In a bid to ensure that customers receive authentic goods when shopping on Amazon. Amazon announced to bring “Project Zero” to India. “Project Zero” introduces additional proactive mechanisms and powerful tools to identify, block and remove counterfeits.

10. Sumit Nagal attains career-best ranking

Indian tennis player Sumit Nagpal moved two places up and achieved his career-best 127th spot in the latest Association of Tennis Professional (ATP) men’s singles rankings released. Nagal currently has 433 points while Rafael Nadal retained the top rank with 9,585 points.

11. Gujarat CM launches online registration portal to facilitate setting up of new MSME units

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has launched an online registration portal to facilitate setting up of new MSME units. He approved the first online application through the portal and issued a certificate through an e-mail to a woman entrepreneur.

Quoting official sources, AIR Ahmedabad correspondent reports that a certificate of applications is approved and the certificate is issued within a few minutes after online declaration of intent is registered on the portal.

12. PM Narendra Modi reaches Brazil to attend 11th BRICS Summit

The summit will take place tomorrow while BRICS Business Council meeting and BRICS Business Forum will take place. Huge business delegations from all the BRICS countries are participating in the Business forum.

During the summit, the leaders will discuss intra group cooperation for the economic development of BRICS societies. Economic growth and innovative future for BRICS economies is the theme for this year’s Summit.
