1. Kumar Mangalam Birla conferred ABLFGlobal Asian award
Kumar Mangalam Birla who is the chairman of the Aditya Birla Group, conferred the ABLF Global Asian Award, for powerful individuals whose business footprint and commitment to excellence have engaged international interest and attention.
The Asia Business Leadership Forum (ABLF) is backed by the UAE government and currently runs in three forms- talks, awards, and publications. This honor is particularly special as it comes close on the heels of our Group celebrating 50 years of our global presence.
2. International Day of Radiology 2019 observed on November 8th
International Day of Radiology event is organized by the International Society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists (ISRRT).
The theme of International Radiology Day 2019 is Sports Imaging.
The role that imaging professionals play in the detection, diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of sports-related injuries, increases the quality of care and treatment of patients. International Day of Radiology (IDOR) celebration is a week-long celebration as National Radiologic Technology Week from 3 November to 9 November 2019.
3. Exim Bank gives $30 million line of credit to Ghana
Export-Import (Exim) Bank provided a $30 million line of credit to Ghana for the potable water projects in the country.Exim Bank entered into an agreement with Ghana for a line of credit (LoC) of $30 million (about Rs 210 crore) for financing rehabilitation and up-gradation of potable water system in Yendi, Ghana.
Under the arrangement financing of export of eligible goods, works and services from India would be allowed subject to their being available for shipping under the Foreign Trade Policy of India and whose purchase may be agreed to be financed by the Exim Bank.
4. 11th edition of Bal Sangam festival begins
The Eleventh edition of Bal Sangam festival is being organised by National School of Drama (NSD) in its premises in New Delhi. The four-day festival will be held from 9 to 12 November 2019.
It is a confluence of folk and traditional art forms performed by children. The four-day festival will showcase enthralling folk and traditional performing arts and folk theatre dedicated to children.
Briefing media, Director, In-Charge, NSD, Suresh Sharma said as many as twelve States including Assam, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat are participating in the event. He said, 12 folk presentations and three folk theatres programme will be displayed.
5. Shaala Darpan portal for Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti launched
The Union Minister of State for Human Resources Development Sanjay Dhotre launched the Shala Darpan Portal for Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS). It is an end to end e-Governance school automation and management system for NVS.
6. Ayodhya Verdict
The Supreme Court on November 9, 2019 pronounced its judgement on Ayodhya Ram Janma Bhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute case. The security arrangements were tightened across the country before the pronouncement of the verdict. Section 144 was imposed in UP, Delhi and other states. Also schools and educational institutions were closed for the safety of the students.
7. IAF launches multiplayer version of ‘Indian Air Force – A Cut Above’ game
The Indian Air Force (IAF) launched the multiplayer version of its interactive mobile game named ‘Indian Air Force – A Cut Above’. The game lets users experience the thrill of flying a combat aircraft. The single-player version of the game was first launched by then Chief of Air Staff (COAS), B S Dhanoa, on 31 May 2019.
8. GoI releases Steel Scrap Recycling Policy
The National Steel Policy that was released on November 8, 2019 aims at developing globally competitive steel industry. It aims at creating 300 million tons of steel per annum by 2030. The policy was released by Ministry of Steel
9. PM Modi to attend BRICS
PM Modi is to attend the 11th BRICS summit that is to be conducted in Brazil on November 13, 2019. He will be accompanied by a large business delegates during the visit. The theme of 2019 BRICS summit is Economic Growth for an Innovative Future
10. Satwik-Chirag settle for bronze in Fuzhou China Open 2019
Indian shuttlers Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty had to settle for the bronze medal after failing to secure a berth in the final of the Fuzhou China Open 2019. The Indian men’s doubles pair lost against Indonesian top seeds Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya in the semi-final stage of the tournament. The scoreline of the match read 21-16, 22-20.
11. Dr. K. Ullas Karanth become first recipient of George Schaller Lifetime Award
The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS, New York) has honoured Dr. K. Ullas Karanth, upon his retirement, with The Wildlife Conservation Society’s George Schaller Lifetime Award in Wildlife Conservation Science.
The award is named after WCS’s Dr. George Schaller, considered to be one of the greatest wildlife scientists and conservationists globally. The WCS George Schaller Lifetime Award in Wildlife Conservation Science has been created to honour WCS colleagues for outstanding contributions to saving wildlife and wild places. Dr. K. Ullas Karanth is the first recipient.
12. PNB Housing Finance Raises Rs 2,500 Crore By Issuing Bonds To LIC
Life Insurance Corporation of India has invested Rs 2,500 crore in PNB Housing Finance Ltd. by subscribing to the mortgage lender’s secured redeemable non-convertible debentures. This issuance is on private placement basis with a door-to-door tenure of 10 years. The proceeds will be utilised by the company for its normal course of business operations.
13. Tamil Nadu State gets Global Agri award
The award was received by Agriculture Minister R Doraikannu at a function held in New Delhi on November 5, an official release said on Thursday. Tamil Nadu, a pioneer in IT initiatives in agriculture was a two-time winner of National e-Governance Gold Award.
Based on these achievements, it was declared as the Best Agriculture state and chosen for Global Agriculture award. Minister Doraikannu and Agriculture Department Secretary Gagandeep Singh Bedi showed the award to Chief Minister on Thursday.
14. HDFC AMC, IGL added to MSCI India index, Yes Bank removed
MSCI, the world’s biggest index compiler, has added eight Indian stocks including HDFC Asset Management or HDFC AMC, Info Edge (India) and Indraprastha Gas Ltd to its India Index, while removing Vodafone Idea, Yes Bank and four others that have seen significant market capitalisation erosion this year.
15. Sanjay Gupta named country manager at Google India
Google India said it has appointed Sanjay Gupta as its new country manager and vice-president of sales and operations for India.
Gupta, the former Star and Disney India managing director, will contribute to Google’s efforts to expand the internet ecosystem in the country. He will take on the role early next year, working closely with the teams based in Gurugram, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. He replaces Rajan Anandan, who left Google to join Sequoia Capital India.
16. Tazeen Ahmad: award-winning journalist and broadcaster dies
The award-winning journalist and broadcaster Tazeen Ahmad has died, her family have said. Ahmad was praised for her work in shining a light on important stories with “care, sympathy and integrity” across her extensive career.
17. Dhrupad maestro Ramakant Gundecha passes away in Madhya Pradesh
Dhrupad maestro Ramakant Gundecha, younger brother in the Gundecha bandhu duo, passed away due to a heart-attack at Habibganj railway station while waiting to board a train to Pune. His eldest brother Umakant Gundecha and cousin Akhilesh Gundecha, pakhawaj artist were with him when he suffered from a heart attack.
18. From January, banks cannot charge you for online NEFT transactions
From January 2020, banks can no longer charge savings bank account holders for online transactions in the NEFT system. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has now mandated banks to do this through a press release. In its press release, RBI stated that it is doing this to promote digital payments.
