1. University Of Michigan to Collaborate With AIIMS, KMC On Genetic Testing
National Institute of Health (NIH) of $2.3 million helps a University of Michigan researcher to collaborate with India’s premier health-education institutes, AIIMS and Kasturba Medical College (KMC)Manipal to expand genetic testing in the country.
This partnership would help the geneticists to identify and confirm that genetic changes are the basis of developmental disorders. An accurate molecular diagnosis can dramatically improve the care management of individuals with rare developmental disorders and involved treatments.
2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the Integrated Check Post at Kartarpur Corridor on 9th November 2019
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Integrated Check Post of the Kartarpur Corridor at Dera Baba Nanak, Gurdaspur in Punjab. Prime Minister shall participate in public programme at Dera Baba Nanak.
India signed the agreement with Pakistan on the 24th of October 2019 on the modalities for the operationalization of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor at Zero Point, International Boundary, Dera Baba Nanak.
3. Tiger TRIUMP: First Tri-services amphibious exercise between India and US
India and US are to jointly conduct Tiger TRIUMP, the first ever tri-services amphibious exercise. It is to be conducted in Visakhapatnam and Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. It includes field training and events that simulate humanitarian assistance in disaster times. The event will also hold simulations in moving disaster relief forces from ship to shore.
4. Samudra Shakti: India- Indonesian Joint Naval exercise
The Navies of India and Indonesia are holding bilateral naval exercise called ‘Samudra Shakti’ in Bay of Bengal on 6-7 November 2019. This year is the second edition of India, Indonesia Bilateral Naval Exercise. The inaugural edition of exercise was held at the port of Surabaya, Indonesia in November 2018.
5. 10th Asian Conference of Emergency Medicine held in New Delhi
The 10th Asian Conference of Emergency Medicine (ACEM) was inaugurated by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu in New Delhi. The conference will be held from 7-10 November 2019. This is the first time that the biennial conference is being held in India.
6. NASSCOM Report: India-third largest startups hub in the world
The Nasscom report on Indian Tech Start-Up Ecosystem said that India continues to the third largest start-up ecosystem after China and US. India has added more than 1300 tech start-ups in 2019 according to the report. Between January to September in 2019, there were 8900 to 9300 startups as compared to 7700-8200 a year ago.
7. Bajaj Allianz General Insurance launches ‘Farmitra’ app
Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, the private general insurer launched industry’s first mobile app ‘Farmitra’ catering to the specific needs of farmers. Through this app, farmers will not only get insurance solutions, but also a range of other information and advisories which will cater to their day to day farming needs.
The Company, through this app intends to help farmers address their worries and provide them relevant information which they can use in optimizing their farming practices. This will create value for farmers, thereby increasing engagement with them.
8. Ratan Tata awarded honorary doctorate by Amity University
Industrialists Ratan Tata and G M Rao were conferred honorary doctorates by a private university here. The honorary doctorates were conferred on them by Amity University during its annual convocation ceremony attended by Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’.
9. ADB Grants $451 Million Loan to Boost Power Transmission Capacity in Tamil Nadu
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has sanctioned a $451 million (~₹31.77 billion) loan to the state of Tamil Nadu for a project that will enable better power transfer between the southern part of the Chennai-Kanyakumari Industrial Corridor (CKIC) and the northern regions where there is higher power demand.
10. Govt clears Justice Akil Kureshi’s appointment as Tripura HC CJ
After months of delay, the Centre is understood to have cleared the name of Justice Akil Kureshi of the Bombay High Court for appointment as the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court.
Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court deferred the hearing on a PIL seeking direction to the government to act on Collegium’s recommendation to appoint Justice Kureshi as Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court.
