1. Panna (India), Fuvahmulah and Addu Atoll (Maldives) join UNESCO’s World Network of Biosphere Reserves
UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere (MAB) programme today included Panna in India and Fuvahmulah and Addu Atoll in the Maldives, to UNESCO’s World Network of Biosphere Reserves. For India it is the twelfth entry, whereas for Maldives second and third after Baa Atoll.
2. PUNJAB INKS MOU WITH GAME TO SUPPORT MSMES, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OMIDYAR NETWORK INDIA
In another significant step towards ensuring ease of doing business by simplification, digitization and decriminalization of compliances, Punjab Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Global Alliance for Mass Entrepreneurship (GAME).
3. Ms Harpreet Singh is the New CEO of Alliance Air Aviation
Air India has appointed new chiefs in some of its subsidiaries. Ms Harpreet Singh, Executive Director, Air India, will hold the CEO’s charge in the Alliance Air Aviation Limited till further orders.
4. Rajiv Jalota appointed chairman of Mumbai Port Trust
Maharashtra cadre 1988 batch Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer Rajiv Jalota has been appointed as the chairman of Mumbai Port Trust (MbPT) under the Union ministry of shipping. The appointment committee of the Union cabinet issued the order for the central deputation.
5. Tamil Nadu Agriculture Minister R Doraikkannu dies at 72
Tamil Nadu Agriculture Minister R Doraikkannu, who had tested positive for the coronavirus, died at a private hospital in Chennai, reported PTI. He was 72. Doraikkannu was admitted to Chennai’s Kauvery Hospital on October 13, after he tested positive for the disease.
6. Electronics Sector Skill Council of India appoints PVG Menon as CEO
The Electronics Sector Skill Council of India (ESSCI) announced appointment of PVG Menon as its chief executive officer.
Menon willbe responsible for overseeing the operations of ESSCI and work closely with its governing Council on strategic issues related to the growth of the electronic systems design and manufacturing (ESDM) industry in India.
7. Tummala Srinivasa – The new INCOIS Director
Tummala Srinivasa Kumar took charge as the new Indian National Centre for Ocean Information System (INCOIS) Director. INCOIS is an autonomous organization of the Government of India, under the Ministry of Earth Sciences.
