1. Senior IPS Officers A.Y.V. Krishna & N. Venu Gopal Appointed as Additional Directors in CBI

A Y V Krishna and N Venu Gopal, two top Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, have been named as additional directors in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

This is a big change. Their appointments show that the government is serious about improving the investigation skills of the main investigation body.

A. Y. V. Krishna was made a director of the CBI.

A famous IPS officer from the 1995 batch from Assam and Meghalaya named A.Y.V. Krishna has been hired as an extra director at the CBI.

Krishna is currently the Inspector General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). He brings a lot of knowledge and experience to his new job.

The Personnel Ministry gave him an order that makes him an extra director until August 6, 2028.

2. Kapil Sibal Elected as the President of Supreme Court Bar Association

In an election held on Thursday in New Delhi, senior lawyer Kapil Sibal was chosen as the new head of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA).

He took over as head of the prestigious lawyers’ group from senior advocate Adish C. Aggarwala and is now in his fourth term.

Before becoming president of the SCBA in 2001, Kapil Sibal held the post for two separate terms in the mid and late 1990s.

With a lot of experience and legal knowledge, Sibal’s re-election shows that the legal community trusts and believes in him as a leader.

5. Japan, US sign agreement to develop hypersonic missile interceptor

The US and Japan have agreed to work together to make hypersonic missile interceptors by the 2030s. The project will cost more than $3 billion.

Japan set aside 480 million yen ($75 billion) from its 2024 budget to build missile interceptors.

Hypersonic rockets can go faster than 5 times the speed of sound.

In a time of tension with China and North Korea, the goal is to improve powers.

6. Times Higher Education Young University Rankings 2024

Over 670 universities from around the world were included in this year’s list.

The two Indian universities made it to the list of the top 100.

For the second year in a row, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala, ranks first. Anna University, Chennai, comes in at number 96, and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, ranks 81st.

The list shows the best colleges in the world that are less than 50 years old.
