3. India Surpasses Japan as 3rd Largest Solar Power Generator in 2023
During the year 2023, India became the third-largest solar power generator in the world as a result of its tremendous spike in solar energy deployment, which allowed it to surpass Japan and secure its position.
In the 19th year in a row, solar energy has surpassed coal as the primary source of electricity generation around the world. This represents an unprecedented rise of solar energy.
The Rise of Solar Energy in India
When it came to the deployment of solar energy, India was ranked tenth in 2015; however, by 2023, the country had produced 5.8% of its electricity from solar, which was an increase from 0.5% in 2015.
This large growth highlights India’s commitment to renewable energy and illustrates the crucial role that India plays in reducing the effects of climate change.
Solar Energy Trends Around the World
It is highlighted in the research by Ember that solar energy has experienced a significant increase on a global scale, with the generation of solar energy in 2023 exceeding six times that of 2015.

5. Scientists Unveil World’s Deepest Blue Hole in Mexico
Researchers made a startling finding that was detailed in Frontiers in Marine Science.
They discovered that the Taam Ja’ Blue Hole, which is located in Chetumal Bay, Mexico, is the deepest known blue hole on Earth.
It reaches an astounding depth of 1,380 feet.
This abyss, which is 480 feet deeper than the Sansha Yongle Blue Hole, which was the previous record holder, offers a tempting opportunity for scientific research and perhaps the possibility of the discovery of new marine species.
Finding Your Way Through the Depths The initial depth readings of the Taam Ja’ Blue Hole, which were taken in 2021, left a lot of room for speculation.
Echo-sounders were only able to reach a depth of 900 feet.
- On the other hand, a recent dive that was outfitted with cutting-edge gear, such as a cutting-edge CTD profiler, offered more in-depth information into its dimensions.
- At a depth of 1,380 feet, the researchers were unable to reach the bottom despite their best attempts.
- They ran into potential barriers such as underwater ledges or strong currents to prevent them from reaching the bottom.
- This mysterious depth raises issues regarding the layout of underground cave systems within the blue hole, as well as those cave systems’ potential connectivity with one another.
