1. World Tuna Day 2024 Observed Annually on May 2nd
Every year on May 2, people around the world celebrate World Tuna Day to bring attention to how important it is to protect tuna. People like tuna because it is good for them in many ways.
It has Omega-3 fatty acids, energy, and important vitamins. But tuna species are in big danger because of overfishing and fishing methods that aren’t sustainable.
Being aware of the need to protect
The UN set up World Tuna Day to encourage sustainable fishing methods and protect tuna stocks for future generations.
They did this because they knew that conservation efforts needed to be done right away.
Tuna stocks face many problems, and today is a chance to teach people about them and push for reasonable fishing methods that protect their long-term health and survival.
2. MCA Approves Hitesh Sethia as Jio Financial Services’ MD and CEO for 3 Years
Hitesh Kumar Sethia will be the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Jio Financial Services for three years, starting on November 15, 2023.
This was approved by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA).
Important Points
As a condition of the MCA’s acceptance, Sethia must have a valid Employment Visa for the whole time he is in India.
The ministry’s approval is subject to the rules of the Companies Act 2013. It does not cover security clearance standards, which are the responsibility of the company and the person appointed.
In a file with the government on April 24, 2024, Jio Financial Services said that the MCA had approved the deal.
3. Acclaimed Author Paul Auster Passes Away at 77
The well-known American author and director Paul Auster has died at the age of 77.
This author, who is best known for “The New York Trilogy,” died on Tuesday at his home in Brooklyn, New York, from effects from lung cancer.
Early Life and What Affected Them
Auster was born in 1947 in Newark, New Jersey, to Jewish parents.
A traumatic event in his childhood, when lightning hit and killed a boy standing next to him, changed the way he thought about the world. In an interview, he said, “Being next to a boy who was basically killed by the gods changed my whole view of the world.”
4. Playback Singer Uma Ramanan Bids Adieu at 72
A famous backup singer named Uma Ramanan died in Chennai at the age of 72. She mostly sang in Tamil.
The veteran singer has made an indelible mark on the Indian music business with her beautiful voice and large repertoire.
Ramanan is left by her son Vignesh Ramanan and her husband AV Ramanan, who is also a famous singer.
News sources say that Uma Ramanan was a trained classical singer who sang in over 6,000 shows over 35 years.
With the song “Poongathave Thalthiravai” from the movie “Nizhalgal,” she became famous for the first time.
5. Indian Army and Punit Balan Group Collaborate to Develop India’s First Constitution Park
The Indian Army and the Punit Balan Group worked together to open the first Constitution Park in the country in Pune.
Lt. Gen. Ajai Kumar Singh led the ceremony, which stressed how important it was for people to follow the Constitution’s duties so that India could grow by 2047.
Lt. Gen. Ajai Kumar Singh talked about how important the Indian Constitution is around the world.
The Constitution not only protects fundamental rights but also stresses fundamental duties.
He stressed that people needed to know their rights and do what the Constitution says they need to do so that India could become developed by 2047.
According to Lt. Gen. Singh, he was thankful for projects like Constitution Park that teach people about their social duties.
He thanked Punit Balan for his help with this project and stressed how important it was to work together to protect the Constitution’s ideals.

Financial Performance: In its most recent quarterly report, Jio Financial Services showed that its combined net profit rose 5.8% year-over-year, from Rs 294 crore in the same quarter of FY23 to Rs 311 crore in the quarter ending March 2024 (Q4FY24).
Total income for the company went up from Rs 414 crore in Q4FY23 to Rs 418 crore in Q4FY24.
According to Charanjit Attra, the Chief Operating Officer of the company, these were the first annual results for Jio Financial Services since it became a public business.
The consolidated net profit rose from Rs 31 crore in FY23 to Rs 1,605 crore in FY24.
This was mostly due to more income and a bigger share of net profit coming from associates, Attra said. All together, the income rose from Rs 44 crore in FY23 to Rs 1,855 crore in FY24.
7. Dr. Bina Modi Honoured for Outstanding Contribution to Corporate Social Responsibility
Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankar recognized Dr. Bina Modi for her “Outstanding Contribution to the Cause of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).”
Dr. Bina Modi is the Chairperson and Managing Director of Modi Enterprises – KK Modi Group.
The award ceremony took place at the opening of the Society of Indian Law Firms’ (SILF) new building, and the Vice President was the special speaker.

8. Pratima Singh (IRS) appointed as Director in DPIIT
Singh, who joined the IRS in 2009, has been named Director of the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
The DoPT order says that her job is under the Central Staffing Scheme and will last for five years or until further notice.
The DPIIT is a state government agency in India that works under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
