Making Sense of the Unpredictable World Around Us
Using and making sense of the random processes that surround us is a recurring subject in Michel Talagrand’s ground-breaking findings.
These days, it’s crucial to have a solid grasp of random occurrences; after all, our weather forecasts and big language models rely on random algorithms.
The “Gaussian distribution,” often called the “normal distribution” or the “bell curve,” is central to Talagrand’s research and practical applications.
The Gaussian distribution governs every aspect of our lives, from the weight of newborns to the grades students receive and the ages at which athletes retire.
