1. POWERGRID Launches Certified E-Tendering Portal “PRANIT”
Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID) has launched an “e-Tendering Portal” called ‘PRANIT’ to make the tendering process more transparent. The portal ”PRANIT” will involve less paperwork and allow ease of operation, which in turn will make the tendering process more transparent.
2. India’s Singhraj wins gold in Para Shooting World Cup 2021
Indian para-athlete Singhraj won the gold medal in the 2021 Para Shooting World Cup at Al Ain in the UAE. He defeated Uzbekistan’s Server Ibragimov to get the top honour in the P1 – Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 final.

International Day for the Right to the Truth Concerning Gross Human Rights Violations and for the Dignity of Victims is observed annually on 24th March every year. This day is observed on 24th March every year to pay tribute to “Monsignor Óscar Arnulfo Romero” as he was murdered on 24 March 1980. He was actively engaged in criticizing violations of the human rights of the most vulnerable individuals in El Salvador.
4. Pabbi-Anti-Terror 2021: India, Pakistan and China to hold anti-terror exercise
The eight-member bloc said that the decision to hold the joint exercise ‘Pabbi-Anti-Terror 2021’ was announced during the 36th meeting of the Council of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, including India, Pakistan and China, will hold a joint anti-terrorism exercise this year.
5. Andhra Pradesh to launch India’s first Govt-Run Animal Ambulance Network
The state government of Andhra Pradesh has decided to set up “India’s first government-run ambulance network” for animals. This decision was taken in order to further boost the animal husbandry and veterinary sector in the state. Ambulance network as one of its main missions in order to help in reaching out to the distressed animals to provide them with proper animal healthcare.
6. UP and MP sign agreement with Jal Shakti Ministry for ‘Ken-Betwa Link’ project
On the occasion of World Water Day, the governments of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh signed an agreement with the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti to implement the Ken-Betwa river interlinking project. The main purpose of this project is to carry water from surplus regions to drought-prone and water-scarce region through the interlinking of rivers.
7. World Tuberculosis Day: 24 March
World Tuberculosis Day is observed every year on 24 March to create awareness among the public about the global epidemic of tuberculosis (TB) and efforts to eliminate the disease. The date marks the day in 1882 when Dr Robert Koch announced that he had discovered the bacterium that causes TB, which opened the way towards diagnosing and curing this disease.

8. Parliament passes Finance Bill 2021
Parliament has passed the “Finance Bill 2021” on March 23, 2021. Bill seeks to bring financial proposals of central government in effect for the financial year 2021-22.
It proposes for some changes in proposals which were made in union budget 2021 with the objective of boosting the ease of doing business and easing compliance burden.
9. Saudi Arabia proposes UN-sponsored ceasefire in Yemen
Saudi Arabia government has proposed UN-sponsored ceasefire in Yemen and is awaiting a response from the rebel Houthi movement. This peace initiative by Saudi Arabia is in line with previous proposals like consultation efforts to end crisis.
10. Justice NV Ramana to take charge as the next Chief Justice of India on April 24
Chief Justice of India (CJI) SA Bobde in a letter to the central government has recommended appointing senior-most Supreme Court Judge Justice NV Ramana as the next Chief Justice of India.
The Chief Justice of India SA Bobde is scheduled to retire from the position on April 23rd.
11. Cabinet approves vaccination for all above 45 years from April 1, MHA issues new guidelines to contain COVID-19
The Union Cabinet on March 23, 2021 approved COVID-19 vaccination for everyone above 45 years of age starting from April 1st. Union Minister Prakash Javadekar while addressing the media after the cabinet meeting, urged all eligible people to immediately register and get vaccinated.
12. Defence Ministry signs deal with Mahindra Defence to procure 1,300 combat vehicles
The Ministry of Defence on March 22, 2021, signed a deal with Mahindra Defence Systems Ltd for the procurement of 1,300 light combat vehicles worth Rs. 1,056 crores for the Indian Army.
13. Lok Sabha passes National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development Bill 2021
The Lok Sabha on March 23, 2021 passed the National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development Bill 2021.
The bill seeks to establish a statutory institution called the National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development to support the development of long-term infrastructure financing in India.
14. Indian government welcomes peace initiative announcement by Saudi Arabia
The Indian government has welcomed the initiative announced by Saudi Arabia to promote peace in Yemen. The government also assured that it supports all forms of efforts to find a political solution to the Yemen crisis.
The Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs Arindam Bagchi in a statement stated that India welcomed the decision announced by Saudi Arabia to bring peace in Yemen.
