1. Indian Writer Amitav Ghosh Awarded Prestigious Erasmus Prize 2024

The Erasmus Prize 2024 has been bestowed upon Amitav Ghosh, an Indian writer, by the Praemium Erasmianum Foundation. Singhar, in his capacity as Opposition Leader and a member of the selection committee, asserted that he was not consulted before the appointment of the Lokayukta, a step that he said is necessary according to the Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta and Up-Lokayukta Adhiniyam, 1981.

He insisted on having the appointment canceled, saying that it should have been scheduled after proper procedures.
