In 2014, the mobile phone business relied on imports to the tune of 78%; by 2024, it plans to achieve 97% self-sufficiency, according to the India Cellular and Electronics Association. Imported mobile phones now account for just 3% of India’s overall sales.
In this remarkable decade of growth, India’s mobile phone output has reached an astounding 20 lakh crore rupees. The nation achieved a mobile phone production goal of 2.5 billion units during this time, but only managed to produce 2.45 billion.
