1. Monitoring Cell opened under Mission Bhagiratha

A dedicated monitoring cell was opened under Mission Bhagiratha to invite grievances and issues of supply of drinking water. The aim of the cell is to get prepared to address water scarcity of summer. The cell constituted will record complaints and redress them without any delays.

2. India joins Indian Ocean Commission as the fifth Observer

India joined the Indian Ocean Commission as the fifth observer. The other four observers in the grouping are Malta, China, European Union and OIF (International Organization of La Francophonie).

It is important for India to join as an observer at the Commission because, it will help India in expanding its plans in Western Indian Ocean.

4. K.M. Mammen re-elected ATMA chief

Tyre major MRF’s chairman and managing director K.M. Mammen has been unanimously re-elected chairman of the Automotive Tyre Manufactures’ Association (ATMA).

Anshuman Singhania, deputy MD, JK Tyre & Industries, is the vice-chairman. Founded in 1975, ATMA represents 11 large tyre companies comprising Indian and international tyre majors, representing over 95% of the tyres produced in India.

5. Reliance Communications’ Resolution Plan Filed Before NCLT

The resolution professional of Reliance Communications has approached the National Company Law Tribunal with a resolution plan approved by the creditors of the telecom firm under the insolvency and bankruptcy code, according to a regulatory filing.

6. CPI(M) MLA Vijayan Pillai passes away

N. Vijayan Pillai, CPI(M) MLA representing Chavara constituency, passed away early on Sunday at a private hospital in Kochi. He was 65 and undergoing treatment for the last two months. His body will be brought to Kollam and his last rites will be conducted at Chavara.

7. Shriram Transport signs MOU with Indian Oil Corporation to offer fuel credit to its customers digitally

Shriram Transport Finance Company (STFC) has signed a MOU with Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) through which its customers will be offered credit limit to purchase fuel from their outlests.

8. Australia beat India to win ICC Women’s T20 World Cup for record fifth time

Defending champions Australia have won the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup for record fifth time, outclassing India by 85 runs in the summit clash at Melbourn today.

Riding on blistering half-centuries by openers Alyssa Healy 75 and Beth Mooney 78 not out, Australia posted 184 at the loss of four wickets. The bowlers did the rest of the work with Megan Schutt taking four for 18 and Jess Jonassen 3 for 20.
