1. India-born Priya Serrao crowned Miss Universe Australia 2019

India-born Priya Serrao has been crowned Miss Universe Australia 2019. The 26-year-old was born in India, spent most part of her childhood in Oman and Dubai, before moving to Melbourne with her family at the age of 11. Serrao is a law graduate and works as a full-time policy adviser with the Australian government in Melbourne.

2. BSES launches energy saving app

BSES launches energy saving app. BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) tied up with several private organisations to launch a slew of initiatives including a ‘behavioural energy saving app’ to reduce electricity consumption.

The app Susthome developed by BYPL and TERI to bring about a behavioural change in how consumers use electricity.

Exporters body Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) has elected Sharad Kumar Saraf as its new president. Saraf will succeed renowned exporter Ganesh Kumar Gupta.

Saraf in his earlier stints at FIEO has served twice as vice-president and four times as regional chairman (west region). He is also chairman and founder of Technocraft Industries (India).

4. Haryana government announced an annual of Rs.5 lakh to Loktantra senanis

Haryana government announced an annual of Rs.5 lakh to Loktantra senanis. The Haryana State government has announced an annual financial assistance of Rs.5 lakh to loktantra senanis or their spouse for treatment at private or government hospitals. The term “emergency victim” on their identity cards would be replaced with “loktantra senani”.

The announcement was made by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar while addressing the Loktantra Senanis from across the state at the state-level Loktantra Senani Samman Samaroh organized at Tagore Theatre in Chandigarh.

7. Canara Bank GM Sarada Kumar Hota appointed as National Housing Bank MD

Canara BankNSE 2.12 % General Manager Sarada Kumar Hota has been appointed as the managing director of the National Housing Bank (NHB), the finance ministry said.

The appointment comes nine months after Sriram Kalyanaraman’s forced resignation amid allegations of irregularities and misconduct against him.

The government will launch the Go Tribal Campaign in New Delhi today to promote the use of tribal handicrafts and natural products.

Tribal Affairs Ministry said TRIFED has organized this event to institutionalize collaborations and partnerships with different organizations to promote tribal products.

The Ministry said, during the event, Tribes India and Amazon Global Marketing will launch TRIBES India products globally through Amazon platform.

9. India, China Agree To Seek Mutually Acceptable Solution To Boundary Issue

India and China have agreed to seek a fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable solution to the boundary question through negotiations, the government informed Rajya Sabha on Thursday.

In a written response to a question in Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan said China disputes the international boundary between India and China.
