1. Mohan Charan Majhi Named New Chief Minister of Odisha

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has formed its first government in the state of Odisha, which is an important event.

After a huge win in the 2024 Odisha Assembly elections, the party chose Mohan Charan Majhi to be the new Chief Minister of Odisha. He is now Odisha’s 15th Chief Minister.

Major General Majhi was appointed by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in Bhubaneswar, which is the capital city of Odisha.

As a witness, Union Minister Bhupender Yadav went to the meeting. It is planned that the new Chief Minister and his government will be sworn in on June 12. This is a big day for the BJP in the state.

2. Visakhapatnam Port Ranks in Top 20 of World Bank CPPI

In the 2023 Container Port Performance Index, Visakhapatnam Port moves up from 20th to 19th place, passing Mundra Port.

It is run by J M Baxi Ports & Logistics and has a high-capacity port that makes it work well.

The World Bank and S&P Global Market Intelligence put together the Container Port Performance Index 2023, which looks at how efficient ports are around the world by focusing on the amount of time ships spend in port.

The 19th spot goes to Visakhapatnam Port, which is run by J M Baxi Ports & Logistics and is more efficient than Mundra Port.

3. Sumit Nagpal Wins his 6th ATP Challenger Tennis Title

4. Prem Singh Tamang Sworn in as Sikkim Chief Minister

Prem Singh Tamang, leader of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM), became the second time in a row the Chief Minister of the Himalayan state on June 10.

At an event in Gangtok’s Paljor Stadium, Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya gave the 56-year-old politician the oath of office and secret.

Eleven other Ministers were sworn in with the Chief Minister.

They are Sonam Lama, Arun Kumar Upreti, Samdup Lepcha, Bhim Hang Limboo, Bhoj Raj Rai, G T Dhungel, Puran Kumar Gurung, Pintso Namgyal Lepcha, Nar Bahadur Dahal, Raju Basnet, and Tshering Thendup Bhutia.

5. Max Verstappen Dominates Canadian Grand Prix for Third Consecutive Year

Canadian Grand Prix 2024, also called the AWS GRAND PRIX DU CANADA 2024, was a great show of skill and determination.

Max Verstappen, a Dutch-Belgian racing driver for Red Bull, won his third straight race at this important event.

The 9th round of the 2024 F1 championships, which took place at the famous Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, made Verstappen’s lead on the track even stronger.

6. Army Launches Integrated Generator Monitoring, Control System ‘Vidyut Rakshak’

The Indian Army came up with a new tech-based idea called an integrated generator tracking, protection, and control system.

It was released on June 5. “Vidyut Rakshak,” which was made by the Army Design Bureau (ADB), was introduced by Lt. Gen. Upendra Dwivedi, who is the Vice Chief of the Army.

Vidyut Rakshak is an integrated monitoring, protection, and control device for generators that works with the Internet of Things.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a group of devices that can talk to each other and share information with the cloud and other IoT devices.

“The new technology can be used on all generators currently owned by the Indian Army, no matter what kind, make, rating, or age they are.”

In addition to keeping an eye on the generator’s settings, it can predict and stop faults, automate manual tasks through an easy-to-use interface, and save people’s time.

7. InderPal Singh Bindra Appointed as CCI Secretary

An officer in the Indian Revenue Service named InderPal Singh Bindra will soon be in charge of the Competition Commission of India (CCI) as its Secretary.

Bindra will take over for Anupama Anand, an IRS worker who quit after only eight months on the job.

In the event that he is elected, Bindra will be in charge of the CCI for three years. The CCI’s job is to keep an eye on unfair business tactics and stop them, while also encouraging fair competition.
