1. Iga Świątek won the Women’s Singles title at the French Open

Iga Swiatek beats Jasmine Paolini to win her third straight French Open women’s title.

Her three wins in a row in Paris are the first by a woman since Justine Henin from 2005 to 2007.

In 2020 and 2022, Swiatek won the French Open and the U.S. Open.

As of right now, the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) says that Iga Natalia Świĉtek is the best singles tennis player in the world.

2. SEBI wins the “Best Conduct of Business Regulator” Award

One news source, The Asian Banker, says that the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) was recently given the Asia-Pacific “Best Conduct of Business Regulator” prize.

At an event in Hong Kong, this award was given. It shows how important SEBI has been in making the rules for Indian stock markets better. The award was accepted on behalf of SEBI by Kamlesh Chandra Varshney, who is a Permanent Member of the group.

Improvements to the regulatory framework

The Indian stock market is much more reliable and efficient now that SEBI has taken several important steps. One of the important projects is the beginning of the T+1 settlement method.

3. European Commission Excludes Tanzania From Conservation Grant

5. ISRO Gives Details on Indo-French TRISHNA Mission

Space agency ISRO has stated that India and France will work together on an infrared earth observation satellite mission called TRISHNA (Thermal Infra-Red Imaging Satellite for High-Resolution Natural Resource Assessment).

This mission will keep an eye on water management and surface temperature around the world.

About This Project

  • The project comes at a time when both India and Europe are experiencing very high temperatures.
  • It will collect information about how climate change is affecting the earth by tracking the loss and release of water from plants and land.
  • The project will look at the amount and types of water in different parts of the biosphere, as well as how things change, like glaciers melting, and figure out how much water is used on land.
  • In terms of heat, ISRO said the satellite would keep an eye on thermal anomalies and spikes, heat released from land, surface energy, urban heat islands, and other world factors.
  • The satellite will also look at clouds, dust, and water vapor in the atmosphere around the world.
  • It is currently planned to start in 2025, and it should last for 5 years.

6. World Accreditation Day 2024 Observed on 9th June

Every year on June 9, people all over the world celebrate World Accreditation Day. This is a worldwide event created by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC).

This event happens every year to make more people aware of how important accreditation is for making many parts of our lives better, such as consumer safety, public health, business operations, and government rules.

7. Vellayan Subbiah Named EY World Entrepreneur of the Year 2024

This is the fourth time that an Indian business owner has won the prestigious EY World Entrepreneur of the Year 2024 award.

Vellayan Subbiah, Executive Vice Chairman of Tube Investments of India (TII) and Chairman of Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Co Ltd., was named the winner.

8. International Archives day 2024 Observed on 9th June

International Archives Day is celebrated on June 9. This day is meant to bring attention to how important records and archives are to our society.

9. Ramoji Rao, Founder of Eenadu Group & Ramoji Film City, Dies at 88

Ramoji Rao formed the Eenadu Group and Ramoji Film City. He died early in the morning on June 8 in Hyderabad, Telangana.

He was 88 years old. He was getting care at Star Hospital in Hyderabad when he passed away at 3:45 am today. He has been getting help with breathing for a few days now.
