1. Kuwait’s Emir names Sheikh Sabah as new crown prince
Sheikh Meshal just recently dissolved parliament for up to four years because of the general lack of order in Kuwait’s government.
Six months after taking the throne, the Kuwait Emir named the new crown prince of the small country. The next person in line to the throne is Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al Sabah.

When Sabah joined the cabinet for the first time, in July 2006, he was named minister of labor and social affairs.
It was also during this time that he was acting foreign minister. He was minister of labor and social affairs before being named minister of information in October 2007.
After that, he was made an assistant to the Amiri Diwan. In February 2010, he was put on the Supreme Petroleum Council. On October 22, 2011, Sabah was named minister of foreign affairs and deputy prime minister.
2. Russian cosmonaut becomes 1st person to spend 1,000 cumulative days in space
This is the first time in history that a cosmonaut from the Roscosmos State company has been in space for 1,000 days straight.
He is currently working at the International Space Station.
Getting This Mission Done
The current part of his trip to the ISS started on September 15, 2023, when he launched with Nikolai Chub and NASA astronaut Loral O’Hara.
“I fly into space to do what I love, not to set records,” he said. The goal I’ve had since I was a kid has been to become a pilot. I want to keep flying because I have the chance to go into space and live and work in orbit.
3. MoD Signs MoUs to Expand SPARSH Service Centers
By forming relationships with four well-known banks, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) has taken a big step toward improving services for pensioners.
The goal of these Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) is to set up SPARSH service centers across 1,128 branches across the country by using the System for Pension Administration (RAKSHA).
A web-based method called SPARSH makes it easier to process pensions and send money directly to the bank accounts of defense pensioners.
Improving access for pensioners
The MoUs with Bank of India, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, and Utkarsh Small Finance Bank are a smart move to connect pensioners in the last mile, especially those who live in remote places that don’t have good technology.
These SPARSH service centers will be important hubs for retirees, helping them with things like updating their profiles, filing grievances, digital annual identification, data verification, and getting access to detailed pension information.
4. NPCI International and Reserve Bank of Peru Forge Landmark Partnership for UPI Payments
NPCI International and the Reserve Bank of Peru have teamed up to create a real-time payments system in Peru that works like UPI. This is a first for South America.
Using India’s well-known Unified Payment Interface (UPI) technology, this partnership aims to change Peru’s financial scene in a way that encourages economic growth and financial inclusion.

The Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP) and NPCI International have announced a groundbreaking agreement to build a real-time payments system in Peru that works like UPI.

The goal of the partnership between NPCI International and the BCRP is to strengthen Peru’s banking system so that digital payments can help the economy grow.

6. Om Birla Becomes First Lok Sabha Speaker in 20 Years to be Re-elected as MP

Birla was re-elected to the Lower House of Parliament with a huge majority of 41,139 votes. She is the first presiding officer to do so in 20 years.

He was the last Speaker to do so. At that time, Sangma was a member of the Congress party. In the 1998 Lok Sabha election, he was re-elected from Tura in Meghalaya.
7. Rakesh Mohan Joshi Appointed as Vice-Chancellor of IIFT
The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), a prestigious business school run by the Ministry of Commerce, has named Rakesh Mohan Joshi as its Vice-Chancellor.
Joshi is an expert in foreign trade and management.

Joshi became the Vice-Chancellor of IIFT on Wednesday. IIFT is a well-known school that teaches foreign business and management.
Before getting this job, he was the Dean of IIFT and the Director of the Indian Institute of Plantation Management in Bengaluru while on leave.
8. UN Russian Language Day 2024 – June 06
The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) created UN Russian Language Day in 2010 and holds it every year on June 6.
