1. Maharana Pratap Jayanti observed on 6 June

Maharana Pratap Jayanti is observed on June 6. It is observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of the brave Rajput warrior Maharana Pratap. It was his 479th birth anniversary.

About Maharana Pratap:

Maharana Pratap was the ruler of Mewar. He is the eldest son of Maharana Udai Singh and Maharani Jaiwanta Bai. Maharana Pratap is a symbol of Rajput valour, gallantry, and diligence. He fought against Mughal supremacy to free his homeland from their control.

2. Indian football team Baichung Bhutia congratulated Chhetri becoming India’s most-capped Player

Indian football team Baichung Bhutia congratulated Chhetri becoming India’s most-capped Player. Former India skipper Bhaichung Bhutia congratulated Sunil Chhetri and became India’s most capped international player with 108 appearances. He overtook his mentor Bhutia’s record of 107 matches and captained India in the King’s Cup opener against Curacao. He scored the goal for his side in the 31st minute from a spot kick for his 69th goal.

3. India and France to carry out Garuda, a two week long mega air exercise

Indian Air Force and French Air Force have planned to carry out Garuda, a two-week-long mega air exercise, beginning on July 1 in France. The aim is to boost the military-to-military ties between the two countries. A fleet of Sukhoi 30 fighter jets of the Indian Air Force will engage in dogfights with France’s Rafale multirole aircraft in simulated scenarios as part of the ‘Garuda’ exercise.

5. Rihanna named world’s richest female musician with $600 mn wealth

Rihanna has been named the world’s richest female musician by Forbes magazine with an estimated wealth of $600 million. Majority of her wealth comes from her partnership with LVMH, the French luxury goods giant run by the world’s third-richest person Bernard Arnault. Forbes estimates that Rihanna owns 15% of the $3-billion Fenty Beauty line while LVMH has about 50%.

6. Sidharth Rawat won ITF Mens Future Tennis Title

Sidharth Rawat won his title in the $25,000 ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament. Last year he won with Manish Sureshkumar for doubles. He is associated with coach Gaurav Sharma for nearly 15 years. He improved his current rank of 510 from 430. He defeated Shintaro Imai of Japan and Lost to compatriots Vijay Sundar Prashanth and Sasi Kumar Mukund in the other finals matches. The tournament was held in Thailand.

7. Google Sunder Pichai, Nasdaqs Friedman Receive 2019 Global Leadership Award

Google Sunder Pichai, Nasdaqs Friedman Receive 2019 Global Leadership Award. Google’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sundar Pichai and Nasdaq President Adena Friedman selected for Global Leadership Awards 2019 by business advocacy group USIBC. They both are recognized for their companies contribution as the leading technology-driven platforms.

8. Russia launched first Arctic train service

Russia launched first Arctic train service. Russia launched its first ever tourist train traveling through Russia’s Arctic region to Norway set off from Saint Petersburg station with 91 passengers aboard for the inaugural trial journey.

The train named “Zarengold” (“The Tsars gold” in German) complete with two restaurant cars travel from Saint Petersburg through Petrozavodsk, the historic town of Kem and Murmansk. The duration of the trip will be 11 days. The inaugural function consists of 91 tourists from seven countries including the US, Germany, Norway and Russia.

Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) was elected as President of 74th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA). Muhammad-Bande, was nominated by Nigeria and endorsed by African group, at the election.

10. UN Russian Language Day – June 06

UN Russian Language Day is observed annually on June 6. The event was established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2010. UN Russian Language Day coincides with the birthday of Aleksandr Pushkin, a Russian poet who is considered the father of modern Russian literature.

11. Lennart Johansson, father of Champions League, passes away at 89

Lennart Johansson, who oversaw the introduction of the Champions League in 1992 during his 17-year reign as president of European football’s governing body, has passed away aged 89. “Johansson was our biggest international football leader of all time, no Swedish has had a similar influence on football in the world,” Swedish FA president said.
