1. World Hindu Economic Forum launches its Nepal Chapter in Kathmandu

World Hindu Economic Forum (WHEF) has launched its Nepal Chapter which was inaugurated by Nepal’s Minister of State for Health and Population Dr. Surendra Kumar Yadav in Nepal’s Capital of Kathmandu. The event was attended by large number of industrialists, business persons, traders, thinkers and other eminent personalities from Nepali society.

2. IPS officer V. K. Johri appointed as New BSF Director General

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appointed IPS officer VK Johri as new Director General (DG) of, Border Security Force (BSF), country’s largest border guarding force.

He is a 1984-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre. Currently he is serving as Special Secretary in external intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), under Cabinet Secretariat.

3. Sudarsan Pattnaik wins People’s Choice Award in U.S

Renowned Indian sand artist and Padma Awardee Sudarsan Pattnaik has won People’s Choice Award at a prestigious sand sculpting festival in United States (US). He was among top 15 sand artists selected from all over world to participate in 2019 Revere Beach International Sand Sculpting Festival in Boston. He wowed American public with his sculpture that highlighted message of combating plastic pollution in oceans.

4. International Tiger Day observed on july 29

Global Tiger Day, often called International Tiger Day, is an annual celebration to raise awareness for tiger conservation, held annually on 29 July. It was created in 2010 at the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit. The goal of the day is to promote a global system for protecting the natural habitats of tigers and to raise public awareness and support for tiger conservation issues

5. Apple to acquire Intels smartphone modem business for a transaction value of $1 billion

Apple announced the acquisition of chip-maker Intel’s smartphone modem business for $1 billion. There are around 2,200 Intel employees will join Apple along with intellectual property, equipment and leases, the Cupertino-based iPhone. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2019.

This agreement us to focus on developing technology for the 5G network while retaining critical intellectual property and modem technology that our team has created.

6. Max Verstappen wins German Grand Prix as Lewis Hamilton crashes

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen took his second win of the year in a chaotic and incident-strewn German Grand Prix held in intermittent rain. The Dutchman led a topsy-turvy result in which Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel took second from last on the grid and Toro Rosso’s Daniil Kvyat was third. Lewis Hamilton had a day to forget, finishing 11th after two mistakes.

7. Ex-Chief Minister And Meghalaya Assembly Speaker Donkupar Roy Dies At 64

Incumbent Speaker of Meghalaya Assembly and former Chief Minister of the state Donkupar Roy died today in Gurgaon. He was 64. Donkupar Roy had been unwell for the last 10 days and was brought to Gurgaon on July 18 where he was undergoing treatment for a stomach-related illness. His condition deteriorated after suffering multi-organ failure on Sunday afternoon, his family members said.

8. Colombia’s Egan Bernal crowned Tour de France champion

Egan Bernal was crowned as the first Colombian to win the Tour de France and the youngest in more than a century after safely negotiating the 21st and final stage into Paris Sunday.He succeeds teammate Geraint Thomas, who finished second, one minute 11 seconds behind, as champion, breaking a run of four straight British wins in cycling’s most famous race.

9. Ex-Gujarat CM Anandiben Patel takes oath as Uttar Pradesh Governor

Former Gujarat CM Anandiben Patel took oath as Uttar Pradesh Governor on Monday. High Court Chief Justice Govind Mathur administered her the oath at the Raj Bhawan in Lucknow. Patel was serving as Madhya Pradesh Governor when President Ram Nath Kovind transferred her and appointed her as Uttar Pradesh Governor. Outgoing UP Governor Ram Naik also attended her swearing-in ceremony.

10. Indian Railways’ NFR zone introduces new ‘pink coaches’ for women passengers

Indian Railways’Northeast Frontier Railway zone has started a unique initiative to earmark a special portion of the SLR coach with pink colour. This is done to specially help the women passengers with better safety and security.

This special colour will help the women passenger to easily identify the coach in the platform even during rush hours.
