1. Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan launched BIS Mobile App BIS-Care
Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan launched the Bureau of Indian Standard’s Mobile App BIS-Care on 27 July.
He also launched three portals namely the Standardization, Conformity Assessment, and Training Portals of e-BIS on www.manakonline.in for consumers.
2. World Hepatitis Day is observed on 28 July
World Hepatitis Day is observed on 28 July every year. The aim is to raise awareness about viral hepatitis and encourage a public from all over the world to eliminate hepatitis. The day aims to find the undiagnosed millions who suffer Hepatitis.

The theme of 2020 World Hepatitis Day is “Find the Missing Millions.”
3. “Quest for Restoring Financial Stability in India” authored by Viral V.Acharya
The book titled “Quest for Restoring Financial Stability in India” authored by former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) deputy governor Viral V.Acharya. The book is published by SAGE Publications India Pvt Ltd. The book portrays his quest to restore financial stability in India and offers a concrete plan for sustained improvement.
4. World Nature Conservation Day: 28th July
World Nature Conservation Day is observed on 28th July every year. World Conservation Day is celebrated internationally to increase awareness about the best practices to protect our natural resources. The Earth is supplied a limited amount of properties that we all rely upon each day like water, air, soil and trees.
5. DRDO launches ‘Dare to Dream 2.0’ contest
An innovation contest ‘Dare to Dream 2.0’ has been launched by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
The contest was launched on the 5th death anniversary of former President and noted scientist Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. ‘Dare to Dream 2.0’ has been launched as an open challenge to promote the innovators and startups of the country.
6. India, Indonesia Defence Ministers’ Dialogue: India, Indonesia agree to enhance bilateral defence cooperation
India-Indonesia Defence Ministers’ Dialogue was conducted in New Delhi on July 28, 2020 between Indian delegation led by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and visiting Indonesian delegation led by Defence Minister General Prabowo Subianto.
7. Indian government hands over 10 diesel locomotives to Bangladesh
India handed over 10 diesel locomotives to Bangladesh on July 27, 2020. The move will provide the neighboring country mobility solutions for both the intra-country and inter-country movement.
The virtual event of handing over the locomotives was flagged off in the presence of Railway Minister, Piyush Goyal and his Bangladeshi Counterpart Md Nurul Islam Sujon, External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar and his Bangladeshi counterpart, AK Abdul Momen and Suresh Angadi, Minister of State for Railways.
8. Hichem Mechichi becomes new Prime Minister of Tunisia
Tunisia’s interior minister, Hichem Mechichi has been appointed as the new Prime Minister of the country. He succeeded Elyes Fakhfakh, who resigned over allegations of a conflict of interest. He has a month to form a government.
9. Vice Admiral MA Hampiholi assumes Charge as commandant of INA
Vice Admiral MA Hampiholi, AVSM, NM has assumed charge as the Commandant, Indian Naval Academy (INA). He has replaced the Vice Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, AVSM, NM who served as the Commandant, Indian Naval Academy (INA) from 12 June 2019 to 27 July 2020.
