1. Dejan Papic appointed as India’s table tennis coach will join in August
Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) appointed the Canadian Dejan Papic as the head coach of the Indian table tennis team. He signed a one-year contract. He will be the in-charge through the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

2. National broadcasting day observed on 23rd July
The first-ever radio broadcast in the country went on air from the Bombay Station. It is under the then private company, the Indian Broadcasting Company (IBC) . This event happened on 23rd July 1927.

Radio broadcasting began in the year 1923 It is under radio club of Bombay initiative. All India radio is officially known as Akasha Vani .It is since 1956.It is a division of Prasar Bharati. It was established in the year 1930.
3. Mohun Bagan Ratna Award 2019: Keshav Dutt, Prasun Banerjee
Two-time Olympic gold medal winning Hockey Player Keshav Dutt and former India Football Captain Prasun Banerjee are selected for Mohun Bagan Ratna Award 2019. Awards will be given away on annual celebration of Mohun Bagan Day (29 July).
This is for the 1st time Mohun Bagan’s executive committee has decided to confer their highest honour to a non-footballer i.e. a sportsperson from other discipline.
4. Indian bodybuilder Ravinder Malik wins Mr. South Asia title
Indian bodybuilder Ravinder Kumar Malik won Mr. South Asia title 2019. He was crowned overall champion at 12th South Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship held in Kathmandu in Nepal. The championship was organised under the auspices of Nepal Bodybuilding and Fitness Association by South Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation. A total of 91 bodybuilders participated in event.
5. JATAN: special software for Digitization of Archaeological Museum
The Minister of State (I/c) of Culture and Tourism, Shri Prahlad Singh Patel informed Lok Sabha about JATAN: Virtual Museum software. JATAN has been developed by Human Centres Design and Computing Group, C-DAC, Pune, Maharashtra.
6. NAM Ministerial Meeting held in Caracas, Venezuela
Ministerial meeting of Coordinating Bureau of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) was held in Caracas, capital of Venezuela. Theme for 2019 Meet was- Promotion and Consolidation of Peace through Respect for International Law. Since 2016 Venezuela has held the presidency of NAM which will now be passed on to Azerbaijan in October 2019.
7. Andhra Pradesh Becomes First State to Reserve 75% Private Jobs for Local Youths
Andhra Pradesh on Monday became the first state to reserve jobs for local youth after the assembly passed the Andhra Pradesh Employment of Local Candidates in Industries/Factories Act, 2019, which reserves 75 per cent jobs in industrial units, factories, joint ventures and projects set up under public-private partnership mode.
According to the new law, if a company does not find the necessary skills in locals, then it will need to train them in association with the state government, the Times of India reported. This way, no company will be able to hide behind the excuse of not finding skilled local labourers.
8. Ehsan Mani appointed chairperson of powerful ICC committee
Pakistan Cricket Board’s chairman Ehsan Mani has been appointed as the head of the ICC’s influential Finance & Commercial Affairs committee. The appointment was carried out during the International Cricket Council’s annual conference last week. The PCB announced that another PCB official, Salman Naseer, who is its general counsel and barrister, has been included on the ICC’s Safeguarding panel.
9. Income Tax Department to celebrate Aaykar Diwas 2019
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) and all field offices will be observing and celebrating the 159th Income Tax Day i.e. AaykarDiwas on 24th July, 2019. It was on 24th July, 1860 that Income Tax was introduced for the first time in India by Sir James Wilson to compensate for the losses incurred by the British regime during the first war of independence against British Rule. This is why 24th July is observed as Income Tax Day.
10. Abhay Singh, Tanvi Khanna Win Bengal Open Squash Titles
Tamil Nadu’s Abhay Singh and Asian team medallist Tanvi Khanna bagged the men’s and women’s titles respectively in the sixth Bengal Open squash tournament at the Calcutta Racket Club. Second-seeded Abhay beat top-seeded Abhishek Pradhan 11-6, 11-6, 11-4 while Tanvi got the better of Tamil Nadu’s Aparajitha Balamurukan 11-7, 11-6, 5-11, 13-11.
11. Former Australian Tennis Star Peter McNamara Dies
Former Australian Davis Cup tennis star and Wimbledon doubles champion Peter McNamara has died aged 64, officials said, prompting a flood of tributes. McNamara, a popular figure on the men’s and women’s tours, reportedly succumbed to prostate cancer. “We are all so sad to hear of the passing of Peter McNamara, a much-loved and respected member of our tennis family.
