1. Eleventh DefExpo India- 2020 to be held in Lucknow

The 11th DefExpo India-2020 is scheduled to be held for the first time in Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow. The main theme of the DefExpo India-2020 will be ‘India: The Emerging Defence Manufacturing Hub’ and focus will be on ‘Digital Transformation of Defence’

2. Table Tennis Championships: G Sathiyan-Archana Kamath win mixed doubles gold

India’s G Sathiyan and Archana Kamath won the mixed doubles . Sathiyan and Archana Kamath won 21st Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship . They bagged the mixed doubles title at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium. The 17-year-old Pang Yu En Koen of Singapore who won second.

Sharath Kamal who entered in the quarterfinals. India got the bronze medals as Kamath and Dathiyan. They defeated Harmeet Desai and Ayhika Mukherjee in the series of 11-2, 11-2, 11-9.

3. Sanjeev Kumar Singla is appointed as India’s Ambassador to Israel

Senior diplomat Sanjeev Kumar Singla is appointed as the next Indian Ambassador to Israel. He is a 1997-batch Indian Foreign Service officer. He was serving as Private Secretary (PS) to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He got appointed to this particular post in the year 2014. He will replace Pavan Kapoor who take charge as the Ambassador to Israel.

4. Nishagandhi Monsoon Ragas Music Fest organized by Kerala

Nishagandhi Monsoon Ragas Music Festival is being organised by Kerala Tourism in Thiruvananthapuram. The five-day annual music festival is being held from 20 to 24 July 2019. It marks state’s successful entry into music tourism and seeks to attract more tourists to Kerala

5. Shiva Thapa becomes India’s first gold-medallist in Kazakhstan President’s Cup

The new weight category has been easy to adapt: Shiva Thapa. Sweety Boora (81kg) and Duryodhan Singh Negi (69kg) ended the tournament with a bronze. Four-time Asian medallist Shiva Thapa became India’s first gold-medallist at the President’s Cup boxing tournament after getting a walkover in the finals in Astana, Kazakhstan.

6. Bengaluru tops list of most digitised cities, accounts for highest card payments

Bengaluru has topped the list of “most digitised cities” accounting for highest card payments in a study conducted by payments solution company Razorpay. According to the Era of Rising Fintech Report, released by Razorpay Software Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru is followed by Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune and Delhi. The top five digitised states as per the report are Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and New Delhi.

7. Nigeria optimistic of U20 Women’s World Cup hosting rights for 2020

10 years after staging the U17 World Cup, the West Africans are looking to host the 2020 edition of the U20 women’s tournament. Federation of International Football Association (Fifa) are considering a bid from Nigeria for the hosting rights of the U20 Women’s World Cup for next year, Goal understands.

8. Indian bodybuilder Ravinder Malik clinches Mr South Asia title

Indian bodybuilder Ravinder Kumar Malik has clinched Mr. South Asia title. He has crowned the overall champion at 12th South Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship in Kathmandu.

Malik, the winner of 80 kg category, was adjudged best bodybuilder among the winners of nine senior men’s weight categories. Afghanistan won team championship by securing a top position with 535 points. Host Nepal finished second with 445 points, while India remained third with 380 points

9. Carnatic vocalist Sowmya to be honoured with Sangita Kalanidhi award

Popular Carnatic vocalist S Sowmya will be honoured with the prestigious ‘Sangita Kalanidhi‘ award by The Music Academy this year. She would preside over the 93rd annual conference of the academy that will be held from 15 December 2019 to 1 January 2020.

According to a media report, the Executive Committee of the academy unanimously chose the singer for the award. Other winners were also announced at the meeting.

10. LJP MP Ram Chandra Paswan dies at 56

Lok Sabha member Ram Chandra Paswan, younger brother of Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan, died at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi due to cardiac arrest, the family said. He was 56.

The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader passed away around 10.30 a.m. He was admitted to the hospital last week after suffering a heart attack.
